Like those tires. They look cool.

255/85 km2 on older tundra steelies. Not only good looking, but very functional too. I air them down to 14 psi or up to 44psi depending on where I'm heading.

Thought I'd chuck some paint over the rust patch on my bull at, then I kept finding more. I think I might have to pull the bar off and give it a full respray.

Also replaced the rear main seal, rebuilt the clutch slave and finished preparing the gearbox for install. Tomorrow the box goes in!

Fan clutch was "drained" and refilled with 10k oil. I drained it for about 3 hours and only got maybe 1/3 of a Dixie cup out. I think it must have leaked out at some point. I kept filling through all 3 holes and rotating the body. It only held about 25ml? It's an Aisin. Feels like it has more resistance now. Tomorrow will be the test. I saw 215F climbing a logging road last weekend. Had me worried.

Did you eat up the fan clutch in the oven? I haven't done this mod but my understanding is that you have to "crack" it open, drain out what you can, heat it in the oven so it can drain more and let it sit overnight to get as much out as possible.

List of things to do today:

1) Distributor O Ring
2) EGR Bypass/jumper (periodically throw Code 71 and don't need silly EGR is Iowa)
3) Identify windshield washer sprayer issue. It is clogged so I will try to blow backwards from the sprayer nozzles. The pump works fine.
4) Build a taller garage in order to be able to pull in to to work on my 80 with the rack on.
5) Test out wiring for the spot lights on the rack. Then take the lights off in prep of dropping rack off at powder coater on Monday.

How do you like the ruggedized Tepui?

I've always wanted one...

-A

I am a Tepui dealer, but I'm happy to give you my honest thoughts.

I like it a lot. My only complaint is the limited number of stake loops on the annex. Not an issue if your on softer ground. But we were on solid rock most nights. So when your getting creative with securing it down it's nice to have more options. The non-ruggedized models by companions had on the trail had more loops. I did not use the annex every night. I think my dog was happier to just be tied to the bumper.

I have to say I slept better in the RTT then ever before camping. Including the camper. The mattress is very comfortable.

Wheeling with the weight on the roof was a little tricky. Between the rack, tent, awning, and extra fuel I was in the 400lbs range up top. Body roll was violent at times. Things to consider. The ruggedized weighs more so it adds to that. I need to build a fuel carrier for my bumper.

Finally upgraded my door speakers.
6 1/2 Kickers all around.
The fronts, I just easily mounted over the door panel.
The rears, I made 1/2 inch cuts with tin snips, folded the tags in, mounted the speakers over the door panel.
Took about 30 minutes to install all 4.

Replaced my intermittently functional antenna with a fixed one...

Can you spot the Land Cruiser?

Installed my new center diff switch on my center diff. I was a little apprehensive since the switch I pulled out seemed to push in and out just fine. Nonetheless I installed the new switch and headed to a dirt/gravel area by my house.

I got center diff and abs lights to come in when I pushed the button. Flicked on the rear locker and voila I have a rear locking diff. I flipped to the next switch and flashing front. I'm guessing the front my need to be exercised more. Didn't have any more time right now to try. Have to go to work for a couple appointments.

Was taking a picture and showed my son. Then he saw I have 666 emails (presumably 663 are from MUD). His response "The illuminati!" Because 2 out of 3 lockers are working which is .666. Yeah, I had to have him explain it to me. He's bomb smart.

And replaced my distributor o ring. Took about 20 minutes. But that's because I had 1/2" of oil/dirt sludge on the back of the distributor. Scraped it off. Sprayed it with brake cleaner and wire brushed it. The o ring was hard and brittle.

Washed it for the first time in about 8 months. Doesn't seem to run any better.
