Bad luck is two punctures in the same week, 5 in 20 weeks is not, with NO off roading. I had BFG A/T and do not recall one puncture, even during years of competitions and DD.

The tyre rubber is simply going soft, perhaps from the heat and clear sky UV of last summer? Either way not impressed with 3-4 mm on the tread still to go.

regards

Dave

I guess it's all a perception thing, I've had 2 punctures ever. Both were sidewall stakes while 4wding.

In other news my cruiser made a modest gain in fuel economy today after shedding a few pounds!:hillbilly:

The spare tire junk was non working and I pulled the tow hitch off to start measuring up and prepping for my rear bumper build.

I have an idea in mind for a combination swing out and down tire carrier.

I have grown weary of my wet left quarter panel and the resultant rust. In fact, I now have a quite large rust through just behind the driver's side passenger sill.

After doing some research, I determined that there was a high probability that the wet quarter panel back there was the result of a leak from my driver's side rear sliding window and this eyebrow thingy.

All the fittings were broken, repaired and re-repaired, and the seals were shot.

I'm now debating whether to repair this piece, yet again, or whether to purchase one off a salvaged cruiser.

I'm thinking either using some epoxy on the fittings and using 3M black sealant on the edges, if I decide to repair.

While I was there, I cleaned out the channels and noticed what a complex, sophisticated bit of kit this window is. I had originally thought to caulk around the outside to seal it up, but noticed it depends on slots in the outside channel to drain water away from the interior. These slots were partially obstructed with moss, so I cleaned them out, and swiped everything thoroughly with silicone gel. I didn't notice any degradation in the rubber gaskets, so am wondering if this will permanently resolve the issue.

Continued to baseline with a new air filter, knock sensor, and gear oil in both diffs and the xfer case.

The gear oil in the diffs looked like old motor oil, not sure if it has ever been changed before.

Big thanks to CDAN for the parts to do all this.

Just breaking in. My D light started working again last year, sometimes it's dim and other times nice and bright. Also, I'm a great multitasker.
