Why is a pipe/bong video in the 80 tech section? What happened to the family forum?

I'm a bit new to the 80's, but not LC's ... I have completed a frame off Fj40 restoration with all the popular mods. I know my way around a vehicle.

After observing posts for several months in the 80 section... I truly miss the respect and decorum of the 40 guys. Most 40 posts are relevant... not so much in the 80 section. This thread has become nothing more than chat for a select few. Most posts are irrelevant. Too bad...

Not true. Sometimes the only thing that can get something lit in sub freezing (sunny) conditions is a magnifying lens.

Tech content: always carry a magnifying lens in your 80 Series trail box. Just in case.

I always carry a survival kit in my 80. I've detailed the contents before. Magnifying glass is definitely in there. I made my survival kit using Gear Pods. They are incredible. I highly recommend them. Look them up on the Google.

You can also use a clear water bottle with water in it as a magnifying glass.

Installed Red/white white switchable lights at the hatch. Do not confuse the Red light to be some sort of advertisement, it is to improve ones vision at night

I continued my ongoing interior renewal project.

The amount of disgusting crap under the carpet, consoles and trim is amazing. Plus I'm up about $20 in change. Glued together, icky change.

As an aside, my rear wiper started running on its own, every time the key is on. I disconnected it and am thinking of doing a rear wiper ectomy.

You could be the first to test the new Harbor Freight 18k lb. The shortbus bumper looks so good on these trucks, @sleeoffroad does a fantastic job.

Why not? Because it's awesome to have and not have to worry about if I get stuck/broken down/run out of gas somewhere.

It takes up the same amount of space a Gatorade bottle or two. It gets tucked in the fender with my jack and tools.

You never know when you will be stranded somewhere and need to fish to eat, heat, first aid, etc.

The same could be said for "Why have an 80?"

Shelving 50% completed used for daytime quick access. Items can also be accessed from the rear hatch if needed.
Pull strap with D ring stored in the middle
Water proof Frogg Toggs
Library for books and Magazine
Existing frequent needed item basket goes on the bottom
Will be adding one more shelf on top
Working gloves with room for rags and waterless hand cleaner

About every year, some person goes off the road in an urban area, and is not seen by passing cars for a period time. I think last year a woman was pinned in her car for a WEEK in a ravine in an urban area.

If you're pinned in your car, a survival kit stuffed in the rear fender isn't going to help you. Just saying.
