Setting valve clearance on the head for the 96. Paid to have clearance set on my 97 and still wound up doing seven valves over (too tight). It's pretty easy and kind of fun.

Couldn't find the FYI thread offhand, so here's the poo poo I DIDNT know. When installing gears in e-locked 3rd's, the supplied bearing kits from Yukon (got mine from Marlin) don't have the proper carrier bearings included, dealer only, and not cheap!

Take note of PN's if you're going to install gears as well.

It's a DYK thread not a FYI thread :flipoff2:

You're worried about a 130# basket hanging off a receiver? You know people tow trailers and boats and other vehicles right? :flipoff2:

Just talked to Cristo. He advises against it since their bumper receiver is designed for their bumper. Ugh.

Anyone else have any ideas?

Finally picked up a 54mm socket, and tightened the driver side wheel bearing. I noticed while hunting down a metallic grinding noise that I had some 12-6 play on that side. Also installed some Hawk LTS 80-series brake pads on the front, as that's where my noise ultimately was coming from. And cleaned out a LOT of mud from my recent wheeling trip, the calipers were packed with it.

Technically its not the weekend but I installed my Yakima load bars and bike carries yesterday and in a about 20min I'm going to install my front spring spacers to level out my ride height.

Thank you. I like it.
Did you have to peel off existing or just stuck it over the original? Looks good!!!

Thanks, I Removed the original badge, it was peeling off on one side--then I used a cloth and acetone to remove the hardened glue left behind--came of with a little elbow muscle.

Amazing is an understatement. On my trip to Slab City I meet local entrepreneur/musician Airracket. Loved the LC and immediately had to demo his solar pipe complete with locally grown fresh flower.;) Shouting out as I was leaving "Remember you saw it first here" Wish I could of stay around for the concert.

Why is a pipe/bong video in the 80 tech section? What happened to the family forum?

I'm a bit new to the 80's, but not LC's ... I have completed a frame off Fj40 restoration with all the popular mods. I know my way around a vehicle.

After observing posts for several months in the 80 section... I truly miss the respect and decorum of the 40 guys. Most 40 posts are relevant... not so much in the 80 section. This thread has become nothing more than chat for a select few. Most posts are irrelevant. Too bad...

Just my 2 cents...

Coming from the guy with a signature line of "It's better to have more foresight than foreskin..."

I won't give my two cents to your opinion because it wouldn't be "Family friendly"

Nope not a bong:doh: but yes it is a SOLAR pipe. Im sure Abraham Lincoln would of loved it when he smoked hemp on the front porch and played his harmonica.;)

You know who wouldn't like a SOLAR pipe? Frosty.

Funny I was just thinking the same thing, but comparing the more technical nature of our 80 series tech posts to the 100 and 200 sections [emoji54]

Not true. Sometimes the only thing that can get something lit in sub freezing (sunny) conditions is a magnifying lens.

Tech content: always carry a magnifying lens in your 80 Series trail box. Just in case.

Jesus. Does anyone remember levity?

:bang:
