Felt like the weekend, but it was really a work outing to visit a customer. Breaking trail to visit a home in LaVeta, CO.View attachment 1163739
How are you liking those duratracs compared to other tires you have used in deep snow? They are supposed to excel in snow.

They do really well. I ran Toyo MT's before these and given the reviews out there on the Duratracs I expected a pretty big improvement....It really didn't end up much of a difference. I may go back to the Toyo's as I like them better on just about everything but the snow/ice around here. The LC simply does well as long as you have good tires.

Replaced the dash cluster lights with white leds

Exactly what I need for mine, and in that color, too. Minus the mold, of course.

Mold came off easily enough... this is my fourth 80 and all ended up with manual seats. 93-97 (93-94 are more commonly found with cloth manuals) have the integrated lap belt. 91-92's do not, in my experience, and later year 80's don't have the hole or captured nut to bolt seat belts to. You can drill it, but access requires dropping the tank from what I can tell.

How am I supposed to add it to the I want it list and prioritize if we don't know what it does.
Pleeaaaaase tell us what it is before Aloha-Jen posts another adventure pic[emoji6]
How did I get dragged into this???

@YinDW do you have a part number or link to write up on this job?

Thanks.

I took my girl and "Rudolph" to Slab City (Salton Sea/Calexico area).

We rolled out on Saturday morning, a little later than we planned, but it was all good! Happy to have her little butt in the seat, and the sun out of our eyes right at sunrise anyway. Stopped in Mecca for some Mexican breakfast, and rolled on down the road.

One of the many stops we made was Salvation Mountain, Filled with psychedelic catacombs.

I think it's safe to say I have THE most baddass girlfriend on MUD. She made an offering at the Shoe Tree in Slab City. These are the shoes she wore when she ran the Leona Divide 50 mile trail race. They had a lot of sentimental and spiritual value to her.

Of course, no desert trip is complete unless you go out and play amongst the unexploded ordinance.

We stayed and hung out Saturday night and watched all the burn-outs, hippies, poets and jugglers do their show on the makeshift stage. Slab city is a giant counterculture community if you aren't familiar.

Slab City - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I pulled a colossal boner when I felt my wallet on the dashboard of our unlocked 80, so the Dreadlock Criddler Crew swooped in and stole it (with our only cash, cards, ID or any other means to get the 300+ miles home).

Urban Dictionary: criddler

Fortunately, we made it to Brawley, found a Western Union, and got back on the road in a couple hours. The nice folks who stole my wallet called and offered to send it to me (empty) if I'd kindly send them some cash for postage.

It was actually THE best trip of the year, despite the comedy show we acted in. We would not change a thing!

Oh, and the 80 performed flawlessly, as usual!
