There must be more 60's in CT! there's plenty of rich people down by NY with antiques ! lol Know of any good cruiser shops or anyone who has knowledge on these things? Im in eastern CT
Years ago I saw a super clean fj60 in a garage on an estate in Bridgewater. The care taker said it rarely got used. Sometimes I wonder if it’s still there.

Depends on the stickiness of the fingers of the people around your town 😂.

I went dark ceramic
Luckily we live in a not-so-bad-part of town but, as I used to say when I lived in a really bad part of Austin, the really nice neighborhoods is where I'd go if I had sticky fingers. ;)
I think we're leaning toward dark since wifey doesn't want folks to be able to see right in anytime we're sleeping in the back during trips.

Perhaps drapes? One of the members of the forum has a nice setup using the tent tension rods with suction cups. Even used a computer fan in the rear vent louver for circulation. There's lots of creativity on this forum!

I just got mine retinted with dark ceramic, did the maximum legal in the front (here in AZ it's 35%) and then did 25% in the back. I'll try to snag some pics but I'm really happy with it and the truck is definitely cooler right now in the Summer.

Have you noticed a big difference in heat? I'm stuck between clear and slightly dark for heat reduction/to block prying eyes.
I did clear on the windshield and the lightest tint on the rest. I think it's a dramatic difference but like someone else mentioned the real test will be in a couple weeks when I drive to Colorado. I've simultaneously put a new carpet kit in with double insulation and tuned up my AC. I'm hoping for a dramatic result.

Fieldwork in the Red Hills of south Alabama . No window tint, no AC, didn’t die.

Got around to the back seat. Picked up a filthy seat back a while ago and didn't expect much from the upholstery. Figured I'd have to swap mine over. stripped it down for cleaning. Washed the fabric and was amazed. Actually came out really nice. Just got it back together. BJ60 now sporting headrests to go with the 3 pt seatbelts.

Here’s some pics of the 25/35 setup. Going to have him also do the front windshield at some point with the clear UV blocker.

@MWM1 Will, reached out while I’m up in the bigD.

We met for coffee and I got to drive a nicely buttoned up 62. Definitely a nice benchmark but was also able to point out some things he might want to consider.

His truck was “built” by @cruisermatt to some degree. The H55f transmission and gearing in the t-case are a dream. Where mine is notchy and 4th and 5th are practically hugging, his is smoove all the way to 75 in both departments. Top notch!

While I have him in the seat dept, his sound deadened cabin just cost my kids some shoes at the very least. Cool to meet another cruiser head and dork out for a bit…

Thanks RevISK!
Great to meet you! My back and butt are in love with those bmw seats, definitely worth the effort. I can see where mine will make me a hunchback later in life! Thanks for the input, will be try to sort it out soon.
Happy wrenching with your group!

I know you have a machine shop but I have a nice shifter handle I made for the TR4050 that uses the OEM knob /boot if you want. Does it look like the shift tower is going to need to be cut/rotated to clear the steering wheel ?

I saw you made a shifter. I will more than likely hit you up on the shaft. I have the boot and will be making a console that the shifter comes up through. So will need to manipulate the shaft for that as well.

No sense in reinventing the wheel on the shaft. Happy to get yours.

PM me a $$ for the shaft.

J
