Alright gents, steering box is leaking. Do I send it off to red head and wait weeks or do I attempt a DIY for half the cost? Also going to check if anyone local to me does this.

Neither, swap in an 80 series box.

Not the weekend and not my 60’s… but still cool enough to post hopefully?

Approaching the finish line on a FJ62 6.0/6l80, 80 Axle swap F/R, frame-off build, and in the testing stages on a 5.3/H55f in a 84 FJ60

what lights are you running on the roof rack ? they look good. I'm thinking of something similar. what did you use for the wiring channel down the side of the windshield?

I’ve got an ‘84 and from what I read on this it’s not as simple as a 62. I’d love to be proven wrong though, seems like a cool upgrade.

Yeah, an '84 would not be a direct swap due to the bolt pattern differences.

I just converted mine at the beginning of the year. Definitely not a direct swap, but not impossible. You will need to cut part of the inner fender to make room for the larger box. Then the top two holes will line up, and the bottom back will be very close. You can open up the holes in the box itself and also a little on the frame holes. Frame sleeves stay in place . Great mod and drives great. I can pm some pictures.

That’s a lot easier than splicing another piece into the frame.

If you can that’d be great!
