A couple of years ago, the PO replaced the brake drums on the 1988 FJ62, but didn't paint them! As the next caretaker, my OCD wouldn't allow for the rusty brake drums peeking through the OEM chrome wheels. So a LOT of sandblasting, primer and paint - now the drums look great! I will mention two very important items:
1. For Sanity's sake please use anti-seize at the axle flange! I spent an hour trying to get the drum off because it was stuck with rust!
2. While you are in there, get out the salad spoons and adjust the rear brake shoes. Now there's a firm pedal and I can leave a skid mark!
