Made it back from Texas Round Up.

Had a great time seeing so many friends. 3,730 trouble free miles in the 60.

You have a 60, right? I got a new oil pan for my early 60 and there were a couple if issues with the fit. First, the diagonal tube coming from the oil pump to the strainer at the bottom was making contact with the cutout in the baffle. That required a little clearance work. Then I found that the dipstick was hitting the top of the same baffle. I just bent the top of it a little and the dipstick clears.

Did you run into either of those issues?
Hey Jim, yes I have a 60. I didn't have either of those issues to the best of my knowledge. I just went out and double checked the dipstick again and it's not having any contact with the oil pan. FYI, my oil pan is from my understanding the up-rev'ed one with the smaller oil drain plug hole.

I must say it's dreamy to go out to the garage now and not see an oil puddle under the 60. Did I just say that out loud....

All previous F-series oil pans supersede to one part number now. I wonder if it's a difference in early versus late 60 Series 2F motors. I know some other things on these trucks changed around 84/85, but I wasn't aware of any changes to the short block. Maybe there were!

Eliminating leaks is such a good feeling, isn't it?

I

I eventually want to add the 3 point belts in the back of my 60. Where did you source yours? And was it easy or a PITA? :)
I put the seat belt planet ones in my 60, 3 pt front and rear. I wouldn’t do it again; I’d find a suitable used or other vehicle option.

My SBP belts are a pain to use. The retraction spring is so tightly wound that if you unbuckle and aren’t holding the male end, it shoots off into to window. I’m used to this but my passenger window tint is all scratched up from the buckle smashing into the window at 237 mph.
Next, the lock on them is super sensitive and the angle of the belts make them “self tighten” while you’re driving. While driving, I routinely have to gently pull the shoulder strap out and feed it back through the male end to give me breathing room. This is like every 10 minutes, more if you’re on a bumpy road. Almost daily, I have to unbuckle while driving to completely retract the shoulder belt and then rebuckle.

For the rear, I put car seats in regularly. They are near impossible with the SBC belts because for some reason, putting a car seat in is the ONLY time the seat belts won’t lock.

The plastic housing over the reel portion is pretty big too and wasn’t easy to fit in the rear without interference to the seat when folding.

Honestly, once I’m done with more pressing projects, I’m ditching the SBP belts.

I’m curious to see what your solution ends up being. I have a similar light speed retraction that has to be managed in the front. Haven’t done the rears yet

Same experience w me with the sbp front belts. For my rear shoulder belts I put the belts from a fj62 along with all of the trim. They don’t lock very well either. I think I’m going to try and pull some from an 80 series or a Camry or something that had grey belts that actually lock when you retract all the way. I put our car seat in the middle and just use the lap belt anyways

I planned on the same; finding 80 series or pathfinder or something.

Finally had time to finish my winch install. Moved the control box under the hood. Didn’t have the battery hold down or support bracket so made some to incorporate the control box mounting.
Also realized when I took this pic my headlight bezels are different. I’ll have to dig through my spares to see if I’ve got another gray one.

That install in the stock bumper looks great. What winch is that?

And please, for your own sake … install one of my Fusible Link Replacement Kits one day 😉 It’ll clean things up a bit and help deliver more juice.

It’s a Smittybilt 12k winch. X2O 3rd gen or something. Tried to remove as much branding as I could. Need to paint the fairlead to get rid of the writing on that.

Escaped Houston today for a back road country drive to Round Top, TX for a Spring Antique Show, a few beverages and dinner. Also found a couple photo opportunities. Glad the wife understands the Cruiser addiction!
