Not a weekend repair but have pulled off the front drive shaft yesterday to replace the U-joints as they were positioned incorrectly by PO (zerks located in a position I can't lube easily). Re-installed it to find out I re-installed it incorrectly again .... lol. Spent another 3 hours getting everything situated correctly.

Rear driveshaft gets new u-joints tonight!

Well the cord didn't work out so well because I couldn't tie the know tight enough. So I further improvised and sacrificed a cinch strap that I use for canoes. 15' strap cut down to ca. a foot. This worked well enough for a 200 mile drive. Had a spare motor mount on the shelf and that will go in tomorrow.

Should've cleaned up my work station...

update on the rear driveshaft: Got everything back together last night (or so I thought). As I was about to put the c-clips in I noticed 4 needle bearings sitting on my "workbench".... ...that's not good. After about 10 minutes of cursing, I started banging the new joints back out purely guessing which end was missing the needle bearings. As I banged the second side out, the cap cocked at about a 10* angle without me noticing and perma-wedged itself in the yoke. Basically destroyed the u-joint to a point where I couldnt fix myself and I had to take it to a shop with a press this morning.

Well, the shop called me an hour ago saying they pressed both U-joints out... wait what? I told them just to press the mangled U-joint out :slap:

Now patiently waiting on a replacement u-joint from CruiserTEQ before I can drive it...

I put this little 125w self powered 8” sub under the back seat bottom. If you close your eyes and kinda listen real hard, it almost sounds like an entry level, current production car stereo! I still need to clean up the wiring a bit.

Edit: it was pulled out of a used car at work and I have exactly zero dollhairs invested in it.

One thing always turns into list of things to replace/fix...

was replacing one burned out parking light and went to replace the otherside with another LED bulb, i noticed it had some what of an intermittent connection. Anyone know if these connectors are serviceable? Or if I can get a new one somewhere...

BTW, have you had a chance to check out the horns I sent?

I went and looked at a bunch of rocks and old trucks.

Earliest spring in recent times, normally don't get the 62 out until late April, last year it was May. Took it to camp this weekend after doing a bunch of maintenance yesterday. Still alot of snow in the woods.

Did a drain and fill on the tranny adding a quart of Lucas
Changed oil.
Flushed the coolant and installed a new thermostat.
Greased everything up.

Tap n die’d and cleaned and scraped 22 bolts and 22 holes...all really crusty and filthy x 44!...and previously scraped 30 years of schmoo off the oil pan and lower block prepping for pan gasket and RMS replacement.
...twist, twist, back....twist, twist, back...think I’m seasick now.

Sh!tty job but so clean now.
