What did you do with your 60 this weekend? (8 Viewers)

Worked on getting some belts in the rear bench in this afternoon. Lucked out with a threaded hole on the C pillar of the 83 FJ60. Used a Dremel to trim the sheet metal. 2 inch washers need to be bent slightly to fit near the wheel well retractor anchor bolts on the back side. I'm think once I get the fitment. To send the belts off to seatbelt planet to get rebuilt/ re-webbed.

Where did you source those grey 62 lower seat belt covers?

I would look for new parts where possible. If not, let me know what stuff you're looking for. May have a few extra hoses etc. no compressors, but have a few other things. I'm just west of San Marcos so not too far from you. Thanks, Jim
Thanks! I'm tackling understanding the system now. Trouble is I have a 350 Tbi chevy for a motor. So it's a bit tricky. The people here have been a great help!

Found a buddy by my office...anyone here? Almost left a copy of this picture with the note, "Let's be friends."

I did this today. Not the weekend, but it should lead to many more weekends of fun and excitement.

@thewadejack, if your looking for a compressor, I have one. I pulled all the AC stuff out of my 60 and some is going to @Cruiser Jimmy but he doesn't need that part. Lmk. I can't say for sure if it works. I'd give it to you for the cost of shipping.

@thewadejack, I have a compressor avail. I pulled my whole AC system from my 60. I don't know for sure if it works but your welcome to it for the cost of shipping. Lmk.

Ugh. Sorry for the double post. New fandangled phone.

Ill keep you posted I may have that taken care of already. No worries on the phone we've all been there man

@Aloha Jen Your most likely only going to find it in a set-up in a package. I picked up the belts/retractors/trim pieces in a set from @cruiserland i'm not sure where else to find other than this way. I'd be happy to send these to someone to created a 3D print file to help out with limited accessibility.

Hey man I've wondered on my towing capacity in the past what are you running on your rig? Just curious thanks!
Good looking catch! Reminds me of me and my good friend going to get mine joking that 'we're goin on a bear hunt gona catch a big one!'
Dunno what official US tow rating is, but I'm sure it's very low.
The tow truck is 5000# with a full tank, 4.4L 2F, H55, 4.11 diff, LT255/85R16 truck tires, HD springs, etc. Trailer has surge brakes, 6lug cruiser hubs, load range E tires, 1200# empty, with a 5250# axel and max TW of 500 on the surge tongue, so 5750# gross, 4500 capacity, if maxed out & properly balanced. The parts truck is missing entire engine/trans/t-fer/d-shaft, most interior, etc, so it probably weighs 3000.

TLDR: Built FJ60 can tow 4200# with no issues.

Thanks for the info :) I'm beginning to think of future issues now that I no longer have a pickup truck #thingsIdontmiss. Just was thinking of the logistics of pulling a U-Haul trailer or something a few days ago. I prolly need to get a fresh set of leaf springs before I tow much at all, my rears aren't looking too fresh.

If you never get rid of the a/c I'm looking for one of the bolts that hold compressor to bracket. Somehow one is missing

Ok, lmk. They are just tossed into a box w/ everything else.

Being Australia Day, and perfect weather, there were plenty of people driving on the beach...
I 'unstuck' a Pajero, a 200 series, a Hilux, and a Jeep Wrangler - all with my TREDs (similar to a Maxtrax). It worked so well I didn't even need to muck around with the snatch strap...
It was a great day - as always!!!
Happy Australia Day!!!!!

^^^ We need pictures mate pictures. Happy Australia Day Mate.:cheers:

View attachment 1389788 @orangefj45 saginaw kit with a twist. A little more fiddling and it'll be done.

Inspiration here
Hilarious link mentions a chevy alt. I just finished modifying my 60 alt bracket to accommodate a cs130 swap. ;) I used my dremel and a metal stone to cut down the bracket so the more shallow chevy feet had more leeway to move. And while it was out I gave each section a cleanup and a coat of paint.
It's in but now just need to trim down the wires on the pigtail.
