Didn't do all of this today, but I finally got the last pieces done so it all looks good together:

Bought and painted a set of T4R Trail rims in matte grey.

Wrapped them in some basically new (<2000 miles) Jeep takeoff 255/75/17 BFG KM's.

Plasti dipped front grille and side mirrors in True Metallic Anthracite.

Looks unique

Wow. Don’t take it so personal. It’s your girl and you can do what you want to! JK

Gx470s came with color matched mirrors and yours is now unique.

Nothing taken personal at all. Just making a joke.

Body color mirrors were my first choice definitely, but I had to come up with something because the original dealer installed clear bra on the mirrors when it was purchased in '03 and they had since become ruined by a decade and a half in the sun, all cracked and yellowed. The driver side mirror was replaced after an accident a few years ago so it looked brand new, but the passenger side looked pretty rough, even after removing the clear bra.

Here you can see the not-so-clear clearbra before I removed it with googone and plastic scraper.

Anyway the mismatch was driving me crazy, so I thought this was a pretty decent solution. Definitely unique--I don't think I've ever seen a GX without body-color mirrors, so I've got that going for me, which is nice. Honestly, when I was putting it on I really didn't think I was going to like it, but after having it on for a few weeks and finally getting the matching wheels on, I'm kind of in love with it.

You did well matching the wheels and mirrors. I didn’t know the dealer could install a clear bra.

Now that you show the before and after photos, it looks way better now.

It's a 3M product. Like a heavy, adhesive vinyl wrap almost but clear. Its pretty cool stuff that does a good job of protecting the paint underneath, the problem is it's lifespan is only a few years--definitely not 15, so if not removed in time it turns into a dry yellow cracking mess like I had. In fact, it's so good at protecting the paint, If you look closely at my last pic you can see the line on the hood and fender where there was more of it before I removed it 2-3 years ago. The clear coat is in much better shape where the bra was than it is on the rest of the truck.

Edit: Also, it's a giant pain in the ass to remove.

Belt yesterday, mileage today. Anyone in Colorado wanting a dealership to do the job: Colorado Springs was $400 cheaper than the other dealerships. Paid $1097 for belt and water pump. The other two quoted me $1500. It’s an ‘07 so I was going by age not mileage for belt change.

Ordered RCI skids to the shop where I am storing the truck until FJ Summit. ASFIR served me well for 8 years but they took some major damage on the Con so a refresh was in order.

Jumped on the headlight restoration bandwagon with the Sylvania kit...I did the headlights and the fog lenses at the same time.View attachment 1684441 View attachment 1684442

Did this today on the wife’s Subaru since we will be putting up for sale soon. Turned out pretty good and was only able to let it sit for about 1hr and 40 min before we had to drive it. Next up will be the GX lights.

Had our new to us 03 checked out today. Found out that the previous (first) owner just had every single fluid flushed, it has zero leaks, diff was recently chenged, alignment is in spec, bushings are great and tbelt was done less than 50k ago. Good news since we're about to make a trek from Houston to Colorado next week.

Nice purchase! It’s nice to have a well maintained gx470

Gave it its first wash and wax...lookin pretty good. I like to use this mother's cleaner wax if it hasn't been done in awhile. Surprising how much gunk comes off the paint you think is clean.

This mod gives me at least a couple of milimeters of ground clearance!

For some reason, I really like the clear tail light lenses.

Makes it look more modern! I have the smoked black LED ones on mine. Pricey but much better looking than the OEM Prado tails.

4 guys, 2 dogs, and 4 sets of hockey gear from Tokyo to Nagano (2-3 hour drive) Damn I love this thing....but I want a real rack, hitch and rear basket. (Also wheels/tires, and to finish the GX conversion....though I'm leaving the "TX LIMITED" badge)

Finished up my camping gear box and shelf. One kid sits in third row so made a fixed Chuck box behind the seat. Tight squeeze. Two Front Runner Wolf boxes fit in the pocket under the cooler.
