Heres the abomination i made. Its 1/4" plate steel. I cut out the rusted mangled stuff. Stitched a plate in. Cut a smaller plate and stitched that over the top. Was still a gap at the top so i hit it with a hammer. Then I drilled two holes. I go to mount it and I had the hinge backwards so only one of the holes actually lines up. So its held on with one bolt, hopes and dreams. BUT. It opens and closes perfectly, where as before it would open and then fall down and damage the door more. Im sure if I out more time into making it look nice it would come out decent but I really hate body work...

So uh..... ISO passenger front door.

To quote Bob…it’s just metal, welderup and redrill those holes?
Yeah. I should mark it. Drill the correct holes. Put some more weld. Grind it. But I am not good it and I feel like im doing more damage than good. But lookin at the picture more I see things I can do. Wrestling that door alone sucks eggs (5 people inside but cant help an old man out) . Everyone wants to be there for the finished product but the road to get there is lonely. Oh well. It will be worth it in the end.

But. Video of it opening and not falling off the hinges!

Great effort, welding the hinge backwards sounds like something I would do! I will be venturing down the door hinge repair path in the future, too many other things need attention first. I need to learn to weld better too!

You and me both! lol i used to do structural and architectural which is HOT and fast. This sheet metal stuff I havnt touched with MIG but I have done metal siding with Stick welding back in the ol days.... body work people have some serious skills.

The pro’s make it look so easy that you would think anyone could it. Quickly reality sets in and you are wondering why your welds look like crap and there are holes everywhere.

Grew tired of the runaway throttle, so I removed the OEM carb for a trip to JimCs, and cleaned up the top side for a temporary fuji carb. Anyone know if the airhorn from a late 2F carb will work on the fuji carb? The fuji carb does not have the tank vent inlet pipe on the airhorn as the OEM carb does.

Yes, Rubithon, on THE Rubicon Trail. The toughest trail in my neck of the woods. And it gets harder every year. Went with the Wednesday Wagon Wun, twenty-something rigs including 2 FJ Cruisers and a Taco. An 80 lost front drive just before Little Sluice and had to be tugged to Buck. 12 hours Loon to Buck.
I lost power steering at Buck in the morning but fixed it quick. Friggin' trail is tough. I do not like off-camber much. Rubicon does not care. There were a good 3 or 4 times I knew I was gonna flop (but did not). The Pig amazed me with how well it handled obstacles. Made some hard lines look easyish and made me look like a decent driver. The secret winning formula is gears. Granny first gear and 2 transfer cases in low range, just an occasional touch of front ARB and we spanked that trail. There was a bunch of times I was wondering why I was doing this, the exhilaration of winning this tough battle is probably it.
New radiator/helper fan worked well, don't think it ever hit 200 f. And it was warm up there.
I didn't need a tug or a winch, I did get some rocks stacked a few times, but who doesn't?

Tell me more about the carb from Fuji? I have not heard of this...
