What did you do to your pig today? (4 Viewers)

An armed society is a polite society

That’s the saying, but I’ve seen reports that state that 45% of people interviewed in some states (Oklahoma, Indiana) say they can’t make the August rent (this was a month ago). 40% across New Jersey.

In another nationwide survey, (U.S. Census Household Pulse), for responses collected July 9 through July 14, 26.5 percent of U.S. adults either missed last month’s rent or have slight or no confidence that they can make their next rent payment on time. In addition, 51.1 percent of adults across the country live in households that have experienced a loss in employment income, and 35.2 percent expect to experience a loss of employment income.

If people can’t pay rent, and maybe can’t pay to keep the heat on this winter, things could get a bit dangerous.

I don’t want to get political on mud, but as Bob Marley said, “A hungry man is an angry man.”

If I armor the pig, does that count against the “5,000 budget”?

Not at all. There are a couple exceptions to the budget. A little late for people who are looking for guns, ammo and silver. My silver dealer only has 100 oz. bars right now. I wouldn't want to try and trade that for some beans down the road.

BTW, this is what I’ve been doing to the pig today - details on FBN forthcoming...

Pre-65 dimes, quarters, halves, Peace and Morgan dollars.

Pre-65 dimes are worth about $1.91 of melt value at today’s prices. A 1932-1964 Washington quarter is $4.74 of melt value, and Peace and Morgan dollars are $20.52 each of melt value.

As long as you’re not paying for numismatic valuable coins, and Bunker Hunt doesn’t return from the dead. they’re OK.

Yeah, but how many of those coins can you buy right now. My guy has a waiting line and where can you hide that many bags of coins?

Depends on what price, I suppose. I could sell you some, but it would be “over 5000”, and thus break the sty rules.

Honestly, I’ve not checked.

As for “hide” I recommend some in a gun safe, a bit more in an in-slab safe and the rest “somewhere else”. Not a “safe deposit” box.

I'm still rocking' the '55! It's no longer my daily driver, bought a third gen Tacoma. In fact, my poor pig needs some love...

I bought a new house/property and moved the family to the woods a couple years ago. Since then I've had too many projects on may plate to keep up with my pig.
I'll post up when I get her rollin' again!

Great to hear man! So many from the old school have sold them and moved on (I nearly did). Something to think about now is the yearly Pig Parties that have started happening since 2017. So cool to be able to meet up for some wheeling and camping and put faces to the avatars.

Whenever you think you might want to start getting her rolling again, we’ll be here hungry to hear about it. Usually it starts with posting a couple pics - so easy with the “smart phones” these days😉

@RUSH55 is like the Pig genealogist (not gynecologist), keeping everyone all connected and together!

Thanks Pablo, you as well my friend. You’ve probably forgotten more that I even know about what went down around here in the last 15 years.

Thought I’d take a trip down memory lane yesterday and went 100 pages deep (to 2008) in the IPPS forum and worked back earlier from there. Read where you helped out @usmcruiser during his hunt and hardships. Saw the last pics of the Uglibus before it was hauled off for scrap. Found a load of old pics that aren’t in the pic album. Lots of people come and gone. FJ55’s have a fairly high turn-over rate.

Not that I’ve gotten very far, but yeah it takes a special kinda someone to persevere with these things, so little parts support etc. never mind the unending rust issues.

We are all gluttons for punishment.
