Drained the rear diff, pulled the driveshaft, fought a bunch of peened over rusty bolts & studs, getting ready to salvage the stock rear 3rd for my front 62 axle rebuild.

I was surprised how much oil came out the nose when I pulled the driveshaft, not sure if I can fix the leaking (pinion seal?) myself or if that’s a pro job?

I should get serious and do a build thread, might keep me focused a bit more...kinda like having a list :rolleyes:

You should be able to take off the pinion nut and yoke then pull out the seal and replace. Make sure you torque the nut to correct ft/lbs. Always makes me think something else is wearing out in order to make the seal leak. A seal is cheap enough to try first.
