Over the weekend I fixed the one mechanical failure I experienced while driving all over the Rockies last month. I dug around in my hardware bins and found the right mini hose clamp to keep the windscreen squirter tubing in place. Minimal damage done to 1 year old bonnet insulation by using panel clip remover tool.

Very nice rig.
Some info here: VW-Buggy – Wikipedia - https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/VW-Buggy
(Hope there is an English translation somwhere).
Try to find out who made the body. There were quite a few manufacturers in US and Germany. Meyers Manks was famous in the US, Karmann from Osnabrueck in Germany.
The original engine would be a 4cyl air-cooled boxer T1 from a VW beetle.
Enjoy Ralf
It's called a Concept 1. They were made in the early 60s but the molds seemed to get sold off to other companies who would produce bodies at various times. Tough to find out a lot of info on them but mine is definitely an early one.

I see turbo on the side
Rumor is, it had a turbo motor on it at some point. No motor in it now so no idea. Never looked to see if one of the gauges is for boost.....

A friend's very nice BJ71 that unfortunately due to health issues will soon be for sale.

I bought these 1/64 HZJ77 land cruiser toys thinking they were like hot wheels but they are different. Kind of reminds me of a McDonalds toy. Each ball color represents the color of the cruiser toy.

Haven’t been in my favorite corner of the web in a long time.....busy with non-70 series stuff but that’s going to change in a big way here real soon :)

I grabbed my 79 at the shop yesterday when I took delivery of something really cool.......2 rare oddballs meeting each other for the first time :)

The little space buggy is a 1960s Concept 1 VW kit car.....not a lot of info on them but this one appears to be really original and not very messed with. Title is from 69....the pan is a 61. In 69 it was title as a ’dune buggy’ so I’m guessing it was built mid 60s. I’ll pop a motor in it and see where to take it next. I’m sure I’ll giver her a resto at some point.

This one had the optional metal flake gelcoat.....it’s faded unfortunately but it still looks cool.

Those are some seriously old BFG T/As. Gotta be close to 50 years old.

Those are rad! They look like they are probably little gachapon capsules you can get in the Japanese toy vending machines.
That is exactly what those capsules are. I didn’t know what they were called until you mentioned the name. I have seen them before in Japan, they come with a toy and fold out paper of some sort.

I put together three of them now.

I investigated a wop wop wop sound in front tires. They are horribly cupped, I think that’s the right term. Wheel bearings don’t feel loose but that’s my best guess.View attachment 3093788

Sometimes you can take a cupped tire from the front and put it on the back axle and it will wear back a bit more even, and you don't feel it in the steering.....Sometimes not.

Switched them around in an X pattern. Driving at speed the noise is far less but the back end seems to almost twitch left or right now and then. I’ll see how it goes over time.

Went bush, wattles are in full bloom, lots of rain, very muddy. Lyre birds active, heard koala roar which is always nice. Pair of kookaburras eat the worms and yabbies where I am digging. Saw feral cat at night, went for bow and arrow, he got away, bugger has been tearing up campsite looking for the smell of food, it even tried to bite into tin fish can. Set up cat trap cage. Wallaby grazes in the morning sun in between grooming himself. Spring is coming.
On the way back old fella with neglected hjz troopy and caravan was broken down, I asked what was wrong, gearbox, ouch. Luckily he is with racv so can tow back to melbourne. Don't want to be in the same situation as he..maintain and don't use 5th gear for towing.
