That was a good find... Thanks for the link...
I purchased that manual...
The PDFs are nice, but I prefer the bound version.
Now I need to find a RM-183E.

I am bringing in some oem 70 manuals and I will list some in the classifieds here the second week of February.

It's been a long time since you posted this, but I don't suppose I could get a copy of that list as well? I just purchased a '95 HZJ77 here in Japan that I'm planning on taking stateside. It's in pretty good condition, but I know I have some work to do to get it in the shape I'd like it to be in. (mostly in replacing rubber parts and other serviceable items.) It's also my first diesel, so any specific suggestions of things to look out for or take care of would also be greatly appreciated!

This is my thread:
1995 HZJ77 wagon build - Japan sourced

I would recommend commiting to ordering all the parts from @beno if you’re going to seek technical expertise/advice. He earns a living as a consultant and parts supplier. From my perspective, if I spend a little more on parts from him it’s worth the knowledge that comes with it. Just my $0.02. Nice truck by the way

RM-183E seems to be one of the hardest manuals to find as a physical copy.

I second this. Beno has put up with me many times over technical questions I have and no matter how stupid they may be to him, he has answered them for me.

Ditto for me. I placed what to me seemed to be a big order (probably small compared to what others might spend with him) for all the maintenance/replacement items he recommended and working at a snail's pace got plenty of advice from him a few years later when I finally got around to doing the work. This sort of customer support is priceless.

I purchased that blue & white engine manual also from ebay also before I did my Injection Pump removal and installation on my 1PZ. Pricey but well worth it. Seems like it was the same ebay seller too.

Went to go for a quick drive up the hill. Noticed a few quirks that I need to work out.

1. Truck still doesn’t turn off but I think I might have a vacuum line backwards.

2. Small amounts of smoke coming out of where the turbo meets the exhaust manifold. Not sure what this could be. Hope it clears up.

3. Preheat light stays on while truck is being driven. No idea what this could be.

1. It's either vacuum line or the VSV bad.

2. That sounds like a gasket is bad, or sealing surface issues between turbo and manifold. Is yours a "new/rebuilt" turbo, or did they just rebuild your exact one? Not sure if they mill the surface or not.

3. I remember you said you had melted wires or issues when you went to start it with the glow screen. My guess is it's faulting if you haven't fixed this yes. It probably thinks it's always too cold thus turning on the light.

Oh. And my new hand pump seems to be leaking at the base. Should Teflon tape solve the issue?

I would make sure there isn't anything on the threads. I'm not sure if teflon tape is the best to use. I would make sure it can't ball up or get into the fuel system at all. They do make liquid sealers that are gas/diesel resistant. I would leave the bottom 1.5~2 threads clean then light seal on the others. Is that a tapered/brass fitting or?

Gunrunner,

What shocks did you install?
Sometime in the near future I am thinking of replacing the shocks on my PZJ75.
They appear to be IronMan4x4 shocks installed by the previous owner.

Some super cool stuff arrived from Australia on Friday......immediately popped the overhead console in since we were headed to Daytona for the Rolex 24 hour race in the 79 this weekend. Console is ridiculously nice and the touch light LEDs are way cool. Very very pleased....

Required one small hole above the mirror to feed the wires for the touch lights thru.....everything bolts up without any other mods.

Who would have thought there would be 2 70 series Land Cruisers in the infield at the Daytona 24??

Obviously it was pretty epic because they even got some TV coverage....

Chris - Forgive if I missed it but have you a link to share for the vendor? :)

Thans!

We're bringing them in....worked with the vendor to get them here. They wanted me to test fit one to make sure there were no issues with fitment. Let me know if you're interested in one. I have one extra in "inventory"....don't mind selling it to you. It's for my next build which is a ways out....
