ALL parts are still available from p/s pump to high/low pressure lines to the upgraded box and pitman arm. You can even still get everything to rebuild the upper and lower column
How far back in time does this retrofit extend? 1988 BJ's?

I can’t say before 1990. I suspect it will but can’t confirm for you. Suggestion, look up say a 1991 HZJ7x steering box and compare that part number to what yours is (via your vin).

Cheers

What’s your rear seating like for the groms? More than stock sidewall fold downs? Adding a 3-belt bench to a troopy was one of my ‘must have’ when shopping for them.
None, actually.
He sits up front with a booster seat. I have anchored down the booster seat, and he uses the seat belt.
Since there is no airbag and no useable rear seats, it works well, safe and legal.

Confirmed for with said parts on 1985 BJ70 JDM.

And 1991 HZJ77 JDM.

PS high pressure line is not a direct fit for pre-1990 BJ/HJ series of engines in RHD iteration.

Everything else works if you go by the system Ian mentioned above for the gear box and pitman arm.

EDIT: Make sure to confirm PNs for RHD/LHD applications.

Right on, mines a few years off from booster but having my lil dude navigating up front would be chill.

You keeping your troopy as a ‘panel van’ of sorts or gonna build out the rear for camping ?

I have one in my BJ73.
Well, not a permanent one.
I have a NATO stretcher, which I hang from the rollcage with some straps.
The outer stand on the bottom sits thight in a sling attached to the rollcage seatbelt bracket and prevents too much swing.
The NATO stretcher has ideal dimensions:
- When rigged up, it exactly fits between the back door and the passenger seat folded forward. Hight even allows to sit on it (well tugged head down a bit), and fridge and boxes still fit under it.
- When collapsed, the foot- & head-sections fold in. The thing then exactly fits on the floor between the back door and the front seat (in comfy seating position).

my friend Ralf,

after an extensive search and after the approval of my wife, we are now planning to have a similar set up for our LJ73. :)

I have a few questions;

1- why do you think this setup is only for 1 person? can't it work with 2 separate NATO stretches (camp beds)?
2- do you remember which brand / model your bed is? I have found some similar camping beds that I can hang from the rollcage, however I am not sure of their strength to carry a person with all the vertical weight. all of them are designed to carry people on the ground, not being hanged.

thank you for your time,
cheers

Hi
Only one pedestal of the stretcher is closely fixated to the rollcage's upright post (at the seat belt bracket). The other three corners are hanging free from the rollcage and a crossbar. This construction swings, still.
You also loose some space at the sides.
To gain enough length, you need to place the stretcher right under the lower edge of the window. That said:
1. With two stretchers in parallel, there will be no room to stand between them, I guess. But you need to crawl in from the side. Certainly no way to crawl in from the back, like you would do with a platform type of bed.
2. It is a stretcher from the Swiss army, which I got about 15 years ago from an online shop selling military surplus. It is this exact model:
I doubt a camping bed would be strong enough to bear the uneven weight distribution. The charm of this particular stretcher also is: When collapsed and the foot- and head-section folded in, it perfectly fits between front seat and back door for stowing.
The width is 550mm. Maybe you try a mockup from batten first?
PM me, if more details are needed. I'll be back home by Jan 8.
Cheers Ralf

In the 15+ years that I’ve been on ‘MUD, I have bought a number of misc. items from fellow members (mostly folks in the 70 Series section) and up until recently, none of those transactions have “gone south”.
I gave this individual the benefit of the doubt every time the shipping was delayed for various reasons.
All I can say is do your due diligence before sending funds.

This is of embarrassing compared to the mechanically inclined owners in this forum, but I found a 1997 FZJ73 compatible part on Amazon and fixed my passenger side window switch.

I also pulled the motors and regulators on both doors to clean and re-grease, because 25 years of gunk was impacting both the window’s travel and the regulator movement.

I used Google reverse image search to locate the $13 replacement switch:

Brock Replacement Passengers... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DNKVPK7?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

In my research in addition to some related helpful posts on MUD, I found a great 80 series video that bolstered my confidence:

Do you have a parts-# for the supports?
Thanks Ralf
Hi Ralph, no I don't have it. In fact the Japanese cars that already has the roll cage comes with the supports attached to the chassis. My car is from Colombia assembled here by Sofasa and they doesn't builded them with roll cage that's the reason why I installed. If you want I could send you more photos of the roll cage. Greetings Juan!

Hi @JuanDH92
Mine didn't have a rollcage from factory, thus it doesn't have the supports either.
So, were did you source those? They look really nice and well fitting.
Cheers Ralf
