Nice colour….sunny too.
All I can hope for this Christmas ( now gone) is for my pitman arm to come off…..and it’s stuck fast!

Pitman arm removal…..after going through my puller , ripping off its feet, a local farmers puller wouldn’t do it as the arms were too wide, I spent a good part of the afternoon making up a “Tailor made” base plate.

I was not wanting to beat the merry hell out of this, as a lot of expensive damage can be brought about by abusive actions, no matter how resilient the job was.

Hydraulic puller at its limit 10 ton so with a little heat …BANG💥 off came the arm.
👍.
I’ll dismantle the box another day.

Welding welding welding. Pretending I know what I’m doing. Started a build thread just now.

We'll all be there welding after you at some point. We'll learn from you..........What I really want is for people to start to coarse weld body panels and just clearcoat them in some sort of mad max/rat rod retro cool look and make it popular so we can all stop trying so hard to make our body repairs look perfect.-R.

Looks a pretty fine job there. Do you use the UPol weld through zinc spray between panels, as it seems to be a decent product to prevent any corrosion between panel work, spot welding or joggled panel edges.

View attachment 3803718Similar stuff. It like galvanizes when it gets welded. But it’s not very strong stuff. I wouldn’t use it as primer for anything you can get to otherwise. I’m worried it’s not going to hold up inside the rocker. We’ll see

Wow, that was a bit more effort & force needed than I anticipated.
Well mastered 👍. Good job.
Cheers Ralf

It looks like you got it right, but I will tell you that if you lost or failed to properly tighten a cone washer and think "it'll be OK there's 5 more there".....It's going to come undone and mess things up/you'll have to buy a new $300+- wheel hub. Locktite is good there.-R.
Everything is torqued to spec and triple checked.

Thought I’d try a bit of electrolysis to de rust a hub, certainly some rust attached to the sacrificial cathode, see what the results are in 24 hrs.
What amperage is the charger putting out?
Sodium Carbonate for the electrolyte?

I still have a 20 gallon tank setup.
Very useful when I taught Chemistry.

So it wasn’t that spectacular tbh….not sure what I was expecting, but certainly a great deal of rust got “ transferred to the sac cath.

Degrease and go again maybe.
Doing this in a heated location?

We’re officially on the TLCA’s event calendar for September. 😁

Anybody ever had any luck with the WD40 rust soak solution?

Here’s another product you can try , much cheaper and you can make it at home: 1 litre of hot water, 100 grams of citric acid and 40grams of soda crystals, and a small squirt of washing up liquid….stand back it fizzes, add the stuff to the water…..not other way round. It works even better and you can use it more times over than other products.
I thought I had some from a task previous, but have now ordered some more citric acid.

Not got anything done... apart from planning...

For the 13BT water pump, the FSM just says fit gasket between pump and block; I've got a new water pump and gasket to go in, do I just run it as is, or do I need to put some gunk on it? I've always been inclined to put some aviation gasket gloop on, but I've also got some Hylomar for gaskets. What's the consensus?
