I have been reading the forums about weatherstripping and majority of guys are saying to go oem, every now and then I read positive comments about the seals by cityracer. I have not read a negative comment of city racer weatherstripping. Does anyboydy have any complaints about city racer weatherstripping vs oem.

I have used a lot of city racer parts. I cant think of any that were not very good quality. I am pretty sure I used some of his weatherstripping on my 62 with no issues. My philosophy, OEM when available, when NLA, then go to a well repsected vendor like City racer.

^^^ second that... I’m planning on using his hard top seals soon!

Agree with above.. I wish he made the ws for the early rigs that have the two piece set up for the front doors. As the early doors didn't have a lip along the top of the door...

City racer great product, great price, great customer service.

Door weatherstrips prior to '75 are quite hard to do, because the machinery for that type of rubber extrusion are from the last century :D. We replicated the '73-'74 door weatherstrips with a lot of painstaking effort. For '72 and earlier we sell the OEM version since it's still readily available. For the earliest version you're referring to, what years have that kind of weatherstrip? If you come across a complete sample, you can send it to me and I'll take a look.

The very early WS goes up until the end of the corrugated hard tops. Which is 65.
I have never seen an OEM WS from those years. Perhaps someone out there has a sample?

For now, I just cut the top of the standard WS and glue it to the hard top side...

Let me chime in. I just ordered City Racers (received today) and OEM rear ambulance door weatherstripping as I need multiple sets just to see...I honestly cannot really tell the difference between the two. I'm going to be applying the City Racer stuff right now. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them at all. Below image is of the City Racer mocked up before I apply the weatherstripping glue. I'll take some pics after the door is reinstalled just so you can see. Drivers side is OEM, and this one is City Racer.

Well here it is installed. Don't mind the blue overspray on the glass...overspray from repainting the inside of the doors :p I gotta say I'm quite impressed. I got a sour taste in my mouth from CCOT aftermarket weatherstripping 20 years ago and never thought to get aftermarket again. I must say it's come a long way :)

@Racer65 do you sell complete kits for the 40s or just piecemeal. ill need two sets eventually. one for a 77 and one for 72

I put together a weatherstripping guide so that each person can put together their own kit based on model year, and which part of the car you're working on:
FJ40 Weatherstripping Guide
