swizel: please post up pics of her when you get it all mounted up

Britklr: love the look of the wide stock wheels on your 60

More pics please. I'm in the market and trying to find info. Looks like I need to find a used 8274 and spruce it up.

Anybody got a decent looking pic of a 60/62 with a 8274 mounted?

Here's mine with an 8274. I've had a few winches but really love this one.

depending on aplication... but 8274 is the best winch. not allwais will fit any app, but when it does, i don´t think that anyone will ever regret for going the 8274 route..

had one in a hzj73,
courrently have a warn 12000 industrial 24v on the hj612, but if i had the chance, i would have taken the 8274 instead..

Craigslist 8274 all the way. I bought mine working for $200.00. Pulled it apart, gave it a good cleaning, and repaint. Installed a Runva Contactor solenoid in the engine bay. Then swapped out the old school cable with 3/8 Dyneema SK75 winch rope.

just a side note, and from experience these winches are fast so be careful your first time, you may get a finger sucked in and youll say damn thats fast

fzr400guy how much 3/8 rope did you fit on there? I'm considering it but don't want to lose too much line length.

Sorry if I'm answering out of turn.

A 8274 takes 125' of 3/8" or 150' of 5/16". I recommend the 3/8". I've made a couple of those lately. Shipped out one for a 9.6ctis today.

Ill go back to thinking about rebuilding my 8274 now...

It has 85 feet of 3/8 rope. I'm going to splice in another 40 feet soon.

Which winchto buy?

I am wanting to pull the trigger on a winch today! I had decided to go with the ENGO 10000 w/ Synthetic for the most bang for my buck. Well then... I saw some good deals on CLIST for 8274s two under $500 in my area.

Now I am back which winch to pick. I see photoof them on 60s and a few signature blocks of 80 owners.

Is the 8274 at 8000 lbs enough for my 80? :meh:

See my sig for details and will add sliders this week. With a rear bumper coming in the next few months.

I went with the 8274 today. I found one on craigslist for $360. It functions though needs a lot of cleaning. Looking forward to getting to know it inside and out.

I would say NO and YES.

I run a BJ75 (loaded sometimes to 3400kg/7480-lb) and have put the WARN winch through hell pulling up 45deg slopes mud holes, belly dragging melting wires etc. I also run a LJ79 with a 8274 (modified) also.

It will pull the 80 but will struggle sometimes. A snatch block will assist in this also. Just make sure you have spare motors and also know how to field change them.

If going that big you need to consider one of these

http://gigglepin4x4store.gostorego....rades/gigglepin-heavy-duty-mainshaft-kit.html

to prevent the possibility of a broken shaft and also stops the chances of the end C clip flying off.

I also recommend and use the Albright winch controller - I refuse to use the WARN solenoids which kept failing.

Really wanna make the 8274 fly/pull hard put the twin motor setup on it :)

It's also not the winch you have to make sure that battery(s) and wiring setup is all top notch else it will never pull.

I'm sure that's a nice main shaft, and I like the cap-and-bolt end, but 276 quid? That's more than I paid for my whole winch.

+1, this is a relatively easy upgrade and is superior in every way.

As an intermediate step, you can also just swap in a 9.5XP motor for the stock 8274 one; the 9.5XP motor is double the horsepower. The 9.5XP motor is 300 $US vs. more than 1,000 Pounds Sterling for the Gigglepin twin motor setup.

Yes it is a good mod I have done this to both of my 8274's but you must install the spacer which comes with it on the older units. I also have the BOW 2 motor as a spare. I import WARN motors from the UK cheaper than I can buy from the local WARN dealer here including airfreight and tax. Dealer price for a 6HP motor is 700USD in Malaysia. I can build a GOD winch for $2100USD :( .

This is a generic question regarding Warn winch motors. Did Warn make these motors to be able to fit multiple winches? Sounds like the 9.5xp 6hp motor can fit a 8274 and perhaps the M10,000 winch as well. So the bolt pattern must be universal. I believe both 8274 and my M10000 winches came with the 4.5hp motor, no?
