Sorry... didn't scan back to see what year you had. I'd have to go pull a bunch of ignition switches to see if one is different... can't readily thing of an application that would be. Edit, nope, all the LC dash switches were ACC-OFF-ON-START. I'll have to look at a Stout dash and see how they were setup, can't recall atm.

The power steering pump has been squealing ever since Moab, so time to replace it. Appears to be a Saginaw pump, How can I identify the replacement part? Looks like a flared fitting on one of the outputs. This is a GM 305 engine.

Had missed your build... but running into you in the 70-series section pulled me over.
Did you drive this thing all the way out to Moab or trailer it?
Also, with the Lizard Skin... do you think it's cut down on the temps in the floor of the truck?

@2fpower

Are you sure the pump is bad... had a squealing oem pump that the belt looked undamaged and felt tight ... but I guess it was glazed ... trucker pops says replace the belt it’s not the pump... replaced it and never had an issue since

I borrowed a 35' trailer and drug it and the camping trailer out, and on the way back hauled 2 camping trailers and Utah. I can't tell how well lizard skin works. Foo was the best testbed for it, and the floor still seems very hot; however, I did not get tempature readings before and after.

Reasonable question. Would I see the belt not moving the pulley? Really, belts are cheap, so easy to grab another one - or i have some spray belt dressing I could try to see if that clears the issue up.... Thoughts on how to test?

test by spraying water while reving it.... it will squeal

aka the dad trucker test .... on trucks that had multi belts it would find the bad one

you will not see it move (slip ) on the pulley... you could even see if tightening up helps as well... they do stretch .... but... if its been squealing awhile tightening may not stop it at this point

looks like I developed a good power steering leak, and thought it was the hose, but it appears to be in the actual can, the resevoir. This is an old GM saginaw pump in the teardrop can. The pump appears to work fine, so should I just get a new can, or should I get a new pump too? Thoughts?

I found these nice pretty cans. Just looking at the output hose, mine is the lower 6183a style and I don't need the mounting bolts on the back.

so based on that, the resevoir from tuff stuff is 6501A chrome or 6501B black.

Any thoughts?

I think I paid like $75 (or less) and I went with black. But you should do chrome :grinpimp:

They were out of Chrome so I’ve got a stock looking one coming. I went ahead and pulled it out of the car and it appears I need to press off that pulley in order to replace the reservoir ...... can nothing be easy??

parts store has the puller to rent. I've used it a few times.

The steering was sloppy so sent the gearbox off to Redhead because I heard so much about them on mud. They knocked it out of the park!! Their communication was amazing, and attention to detail was exactly what I want. I typically am a control freak and do everything myself because I just don’t feel like it’s done the same quality I would want it to be done... in this case I think they did better than what I would’ve done. Got a return customer right here...

Had a new windshield cut. But the real star here is Aqualu…. I needed a new gasket so I called them to see what style I needed to buy they were amazing to work with! Recall that I bought this rig second hand, so never bought directly from them, and they still gave me 100% support and time to get the exact right gasket.

Just heard that 2023 will be the end of their replacement body division... so very sad to hear that!

I love working with companies like this!!
