Very good. I will take it apart and let you know. Quick reminder, this rig was in your parking lot when Spencer worked for you.

Oh I totally remember the truck, he was a customer and then work for us for a season. I've just never spent any time under it :D

Pic of the final taillight. Almost forgot to wire in for the trailer connection

Moving on own power. It's very cold outside so just move it back-and-forth in the garage

Ball joint is 12 x 1.25mm. Other side is 17x 1.5.

Taper on the arm is 16.3 mm at bottom

Many posts ago I mentioned the front shocks didn't seem long enough.... now under full load I still am not seen much ability to go much further out. Measured center to center I'm at about 18 1/2 inch sitting flat. They are old man emu shocks labeled 60097.

So there is a Toyota small taper end in what is likely a GM 1/2T arm. Wrong diameter and taper. We've got all the fixes you need.

The 60097 is the correct shock for a 2.5" 4x front application.

Calling soon.....

Talked to Kurt. Need to get him the length of the drag length, as the fix is a custom drag rod, metric on one end and standard (GM) on the other. The height of the shock is still to be determined. Right now, I have about 1/2" uptravel, so this can't be right.

Re: Steering, we have two conversion tube options:

Conversion Drag Link (25.5")
...Overall length without ends is 25.5". Length with both relay rod ends installed is adjustable from approximately 28"-29" hole to hole range... Part# PSDL1

Conversion Drag Link (26.75")
...Overall length without ends is 26.75". Length with both relay rod ends installed is adjustable from approximately 29.25" - 31.25" hole to hole range... Part# PSDL2

Re: Shocks:

The 60097 has open closed dimensions of 493/315mm, so roughly 19.5" open and 12.5" closed. If you're at 18.5" sitting you are definitely not going to have much down travel?

28 and three-quarter inch center to center

Here are the original details from Spencer. Can't find anything about the front springs.

1970 Toyota Land Cruiser on KSL.com

1970 FJ40
Front and back ARB's
Sliders, bumpers, tire swing
OME 2.5 in lift with custom from springs and greaseable shackles
BFG all-terrains <3k miles
Knuckle rebuild, inner axles/birfields/brakes/knuckles switched to '85 FJ60 with new brakes completely and has rear discs the vehicle I used to get pads for it is a Buick regal but I don't know what they're actually from
Good brake master and booster out of a 60
6:55 5 speed manual tranny
Aqualu aluminum tub, wheel wells, steps, windshield frame and fenders

Oil pan leaks about a quart/quart and a half a month so it's not too bad but it gets messy and a little obnoxious
Water neck needs a new gasket and silicon
Exhaust leaks at both t fittings so it needs two new gaskets
T-case drain is a little stripped so that needs to be tapped but I just rebuilt the t-case so it's good other than that
It needs a new clutch master cylinder but it has a new slave
Whoever painted it did a fine job on the aluminum but really did a lazy job taking care of rust on the doors first, a little but of surface rust around handles and of course on the bottom of the door and a small amount on the top by one of the corner windows
Just check out the ksl add for more stuff I probably forgot things

Kurt put a care package together for Utah.

Thanks! Hopefully be here before Santa shows up.

excellent! THanks Kurt for having everything in stock and for the opportunity to win some awesome hubs! Merry xmas to you. one more axle rebuild forthcoming in the new year..

I should check in more often, I have a bunch of random, brand-new toyota ends. As for the shocks, too long is WAY better then too short. This is especially true for rigs that have more-limited flex (as compared to a linked suspension). I know on my H3, 1" more travel made a world of difference... point is, while recommended is a good starting point - do get the measurements and compare to what you have, the more travel you have the better it will work off-road. More directly applied to your springs - the springs won't drop that much compared to up-travel because the shackles won't stand for that nonsense. That said, if you have longer-then-stock shackles, the recommended for 2.5" springs will be too short.

Thanks @SuperBuickGuy for your thoughts. Also thanks to Kurt for his assistance in getting me set up with a new set of OME shocks and all steering parts.

Spend the next couple hours replacing the guts in the GM tilt column, as that turn signal electronics did not work

Beautiful day for the first test drive. Short list of things to do from the actual drive: rotate steering wheel, turn signals, clutch adjustment.
