First thing up today was to work on the fuel tank. After brainstorming with @tornadoalleycruiser came up with a plan. Wanted to get thoughts before I start hacking the old one up. The pump will fit through the existing hole, so my thought is to bend the existing pick up tube and attach the pump at the bottom. Did a test fit with some old plumbing pipe and appears not to have any clearance issues. You can see in the cardboard pictures how it will change the pick up tube angles.

Started working on the exhaust as well. Passenger side I can use the stock truck manifold and union. Driver side I had to cut notch weld….

Also got the tranny mount further along. Still waiting on the new bushing from ruff stuff. I have enough room to use the original rubber mount and the round bushing mount to allow for twisting.

Bent fuel lines like this…. Then use some needle nose pliers to give it a tiny flare. So the question is how can I clean out that little tray at the bottom?

Next up. Finally got the parts to finish the tranny mount… then pulled the engine out to finish welding up everything.

Oops I forgot to do the new tranny mount…. Done. I do love powder coating. While I’m waiting for the primer to dry and for the rain to stop … I started working on the sound deadening for interior

Yum!

Got all the painting completed. Blitz black. Next step was to drill a hole for the harness. Found a great spot that led to the opening behind the glove box…. Still is a little scary to drill a 2 inch hole.

ECU under the dash? I’ve forgotten... what did you decide to use?

Yes, under the dash, that is how PSI wires it, and I found a perfect spot that looked like it was made for it.

While I have your ear. What do you do for inline fuel filter?

Also, was talking to @tornadoalleycruiser and he mentioned the power steering pump may be too powerful, do you use a pressure reducer?

I can recommend this filter. I like it.

I’m glad @cruisermatt is in the same thought I am regarding the power steering pump. I do not understand the logic of those that say the pump needs a reducer. Heck, I don’t see how that reducer does anything to lower pressure. I could be stupid though.

Do you already have the fuel pressure regulator sorted out?

Not sure what you speak of.... ??? @tornadoalleycruiser

I have the in denso in tank pump, got that filter and all the fittings to make AN line set on Saturday.

What do we need to do for pressure regulator?

I'm a newb to LS motors.
Do LS motors not have a fuel pressure regulator built into the rail? I was toying with adding an inline fuel pressure gauge past the filter and before the rail for monitoring if needed. Kelly what pressure is the pump your installing? Stock LS pump from that motor? We can add anything needed but need to start somewhere. Sat goals are in and out from tank, soft lines to frame, hard lines down frame, soft to filter, filter to motor and return. if a regulator is needed we can easily order one and install it past the filter and before the rail. Kelly's LS has a return line so am hoping it regulates at the rail and will not need an inline regulator with return.
