This motivates me to wonder if the fuel filter has ever been replaced on my 80, I'll add it to the list!

Well I think it's about that time to do a Head Gasket on my 80,
Ive had to top off the coolant twice since I bought it back from my buddy Jacob and I haven't noticed any leaks. And put only 500mi on it.
Tonight I loaded it on my trailer to go to Windrock this weekend and I noticed there is a film of something on the trailer behind the 80. Felt slippery like oil or coolant but I didn't look into it too much. So it's not seeming too promising. Planning to start tearing it down after this weekend.

Hopefully it's just the PHH or PHH neighbor. Possibly leaking heater valve. Check oil cap for milky sludge. Head gaskets on these trucks don't usually leak coolant, coolant usually gets burned in the cylinder. Cylinder 6 to be more specific. Also check rear heater lines and delete rear heater if necessary.
Time for an oil change on Sandy after the Colorado trip. Was at Costco yesterday and saw they have Kirkland 15W-40 diesel oil. Will likely give that a shot since it's on sale right now for pretty cheap. $30 for 3 gallons I think.
What I always used in my 60's every 6 months or so (I rarely hit over 3k on each interval).

That was my thought, I was hoping it was a leak from a heater hose and no issue with the HG. But I think it is burning coolant. I haven't noticed a smell from it but not to say it isn't there. All the heater hoses on this truck have about 30K miles on them and are about 5yr old. So definitely not fresh but not original either.
she has a profuse oil leak from somewhere on the back of the engine region. Could just be a valve cover gasket, hard to tell. Haven't looked into it much. Been focusing on the fun stuff. But this is the oil puddle she left overnight on my trailer.

But more importantly, she started and ran perfect. Earlier today. Parked on the trailer. All I have done since then is replace the throttle cable and mounted my e locker switch in the dash. And now she won't start. You turn the key to ACC and a bunch of lights light up on the dash, maybe more than usual, honestly don't know, then go to start and nothing. No click to turnover. Just a low hum and the lights dim like she's trying to draw power.
My guess is I knocked something loose under the dash when installing the switch. But haven't found anything yet. Hard to find stuff upside down in the dark.

Uhhh it started? All I did was try it again. I held the key in the start position. It didn't do anything for a couple second then started suddenly
Bad starter contacts.....

I would've expected a click from the solenoid. It didn't make a sound

When the fusible Link is going does it kill power to The whole vehicle or just the start circuit? It still had power to the radio and headlights and interior lights the whole time.
I started it like 5 more times last night and once this morning and it started every time without hesitation. I'm gonna drag it around in the trailer tonight and hit some rumble strips and see if it does it again.
I don't remember. Not a bad way to throw $20 at the problem, though. And it's something we should all have in our spares kit anyway.

The only ones I've ever seen for sale from any source are OEM.
Light wrenching yesterday. Brake fluid flush on @FJinTegaCay Miller’s 40 and centered the steering wheel on @pkniland Patrick’s 60.
Light wrenching ... is relative. With the required tools / space / knowledge / expertise, it can be.
Looks like you have a great Cruiser space (with an outstanding group of Cruisers in the space). Kudos

That barn is the Taj Mahal of Land Cruisers...except that it's not a tomb. So maybe not the Taj Mahal. But extremely sweet!

Size can work against you too!
My case for example. My bride found her dream home in '05 and it happened to have a 40ft by 80ft brick out building that matched the house. It got better yet when the loan appraisal came in that the out building was a freebie (i.e., we had negotiated such good price that house & land more than covered needs for the loan). This was all great.
But 3200 sq ft of unheated/uninsulated shop is not easy to work in with temperature extremes. The cost to upgrade with insulation / heating-cooling /floor coating / ... a 3200 sq ft building adds up very fast to non-trivial sums. My lovely bride is not a fan of non-trivial sums. Her current feedback to funding requests is sell Cruisers until you have enough money to cover the shop upgrade costs.
Looks like I will continue to sweat like stuck hog in the summer and freeze each winter.
