Changed the oil on my 40 today, not due to mileage, but mainly because it’s been almost three years.
Feeling accomplished I decided to install the LEDs that my wife got me for Christmas. The difference is amazing. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to reconnect the speedo cable, despite hours of trying, numerous MUD thread searches for tips and a call to @JohnVee. Time to text a few of the local guys for help.
Finally installed a rear backup camera for the 80. After months of searching, I found a camera that not only does 180* view but changes the view with the click of a button supplied in the kit AND costs less than $50. The picture quality isn't the greatest but from what I can tell none of them are. I'm still debating on where to mount it. Low on the tailgate is the best but that means either drilling into the tailgate or using double sided tape and a mounting plate.
Parkvision 180* backup camera
The Tundra got all new speakers, steering wheel controls, and factory amp bypass. When we purchased the truck, the stereo was shot and the tweeters buzzed loudly. The truck came with the upgraded JBL Premium audio system. Yeah it might have been awesome in 2006 but in 2019 the front speaker surrounds were shot and the back speakers didn't work. After several days of building a giant bird's nest of wiring, the stereo is done and it sounds great.
I've ordered another Parkvision backup camera for the tundra but this will be an easy install.
- Pioneer AVH-2550NEX
- JBL GTO Components in the front and coaxials in the rear
- Parking brake bypass installed to defeat limited menu system in the radio

It's not the most exciting vehicle to drive but the 4.7L power is nice and dare I say almost fuel efficient. The suspension is very smooth (TRD package) and the interior is quite nice and well laid out. The used market demands a premium for these trucks and finding a low mileage vehicle in good to great condition is tough. I was scanning 5 different used car sites for months with a 200 mile search radius before I found mine locally with 116K miles and the right price.how are you liking the tundra. With the new house and ongoing projects, we need a truck. I’m quietly looking for the one like @weejub had and you have currently.
i have some hog rings Del your welcome to them.

The guy who redid the 80 seat used carpet to reinforce the sides ,or it was going to wear through again.I removed the driver seat to strip it if it’s old leather and once I had it all apart I noticed the bottom foam cage was broken in 3 spots and the foam was pretty messed up in the door side.
I improvised and was able to salvage the foam and the basket. I weldedand bent the basket back to its original shape and I used my wife’s yoga mat to reinforce the foam. This def made the new leather much tighter and gave the bottom half of the seat a much firmer feel.
Not very easy to see but the left side is bent and broken it was barely hanging on. Welded it, cleaned the surface rust, and painted it. View attachment 2171693Here is how I reinforce the stock foam with 1/2

Here it is with the new leather. You can kind of see it looks a little more puffy than before. But now I don’t feel the metal on the left side and the yoga mat feels nice and firm.
