I've never owned a router. The project I'm planning will work a lot better with one - so anyone have some recommendations on a decent cheap one?
Doesn't have to be commercial grade or super durable - I'm unlikely to use it that often.
Just cheap, functional and simple.
Thanks.
Good call. Problem is, I don't know enough about routers to know if pivotal pieces are missing/non-functional. Perhaps a little research and I'll figure out what to look for.For "good" and "cheap" head to the pawn shop. My favorite is "West Mountain Pawn" in K-ville. Nice guys. They are sure to have plenty to pick from. Usually you're out the door at +/- 60% asking price. Can pick up another Bun while you're there.
Unfortunately the bits are where you can spend money quickly. So many different profiles, depths, blah blah blah. Half the time HD or lowes doesn't have what I'm after so I just buy direct from amazon and save the gas...
Go take a welding class at night at a local High School or Tech School. You will never regret it. You will also learn what equipment you like and where your strengths are. You will then be able to make an educated purchase of a welder for yourself and then you can impress your father with the things that you have welded.
Being able to weld and also to fabricate metal is a skill that will serve you throughout your life. If you only weld an axle back on the lawn mower or something like that once a year, it's worth it. It's worth the time invested, not just as it relates to Land Cruisers.
I got a different kind of tool tonight.
