1/4" aluminum
there will be a layer of rubber going between the aluminum and the steel as well as a fresh decent coat of paint.

As always beautiful work
Surely that scoop on the bonnet is planning for something every body are looking forward to.
Turbo mod's on the normal 4.2 liter pre combustion diesels we have in Africa does not work, as soon as you gun them a bit they overheat even with intercoolers the 1HDEFT is a different story.
Looking forward to the progress

The troopie was never offered to the Japanese public, same with the Land Cruiser pickup. both were for export only.
This one came from Oz, shipping was $6K to the east coast. i would not ship to the east coast again, just too much hassle.
Cheers

i have to say, i am a bit nervous.
after 14 months of building this truck, the owner if finally coming to take a look at the work.

I do hope he will be as happy in person as he has been over the phone and net.

Wayne-

I must say after spending the majority of my afternoon reading this entire thread, I find myself admiring the fabrication and the creative and well thought-out approach intended to exceed the desires of the customer - superb fit and finish!!....and always enjoying the beautifully detailed photos (cough) - I must say this is a truly amazing build and I can't wait to see more updates!

I also saw your job posting on here as well....I think you may have an applicant - if I could only convince the wife to move away from Colorado :)

thanks for the compliment.
Yes, Mitch has moved on to better pay. I wish him the best in his new job and the future.
Colorado is a beautiful State. I have been there more than once and if i lived there i am not sure i would move here for work.
Cool idea though.

the body is back in the shop and starting this week we should have some updates for those that are interested.
The owner is in Toronto the last week or so, and he came up to take a look at the build. i will leave commenting to him.
He is also thinking of coming up tomorrow and wrenching on his own truck for a few days. If he will allow it maybe i can post up some pics...

Yes please post some updates...I'm chomping at the bits here!

I've spent many hours over the last two days consuming every post in this thread. Simply amazing. My hat is off to you, Wayne, and I'm envious of the owner's soon-to-be-completed prize.

you did the thread justice and i thank you for investing the time and the compliment.
tomorrow we start back on it.
cheers

It's even more interesting to me since my purchase of a Danish LHD turbodiesel troopy. ;) So, your fine work is definitely food for thought.

Greg,
That's a great get out of hospital gift to yourself. I'm gonna have to stop by next time I'm in Houston.

just opened the link ...
congrats, that is the kind of unit i like ... over maintained and under driven!!
post up another link here when you start the build thread.
<no issues with "muddying", between the dog shots, the ragtop shots, the girlie shots etc ... i have already done a fine job>
Sure, Wayne. https://forum.ih8mud.com/vehicles-trailers-sale-wanted/549235-1986-bj75.html

I'm excited about the truck--it's being delivered this week by a fellow mudder. Sorry about muddying up your most excellent build thread.
