Speaking of that, how did those doors from this company end up fitting on the customer rig you posted about in the other thread

Haven’t gotten to it yet. Just one door. Quality and weight looks/feels good at first inspection though.

@topnault can you provide more pictures of your tubs? What does the dash on the full tub look like? Underside? Firewall on the engine bay? Things like that?

Thanks!

I started another thread to present as much details as possible on our cabs, tubs and parts. Please check it out:
Here is several picture inside the cab.

I think the tub from 79 and up looks good but for the US market that pre 79 tub is going to cover a huge section of the US market for your product.

While not sure the early dash will fit the 79-82 owners of US imported FJ40. It would be easier to work with over the dash made for insert panel that is very hard to find. Early dash still needs the seat belt and brake light opening on the dash on 79-82. 78 needs these as well. Those lights were used in more markets than the US.

The pre 79 tub has the seatbelt warning/brake down below the dash to the right of the steering column. ( specifically the 77) The pull levers are all the same to the right. If I were tp auto I would pre-punch all the pull holes and leave the opening for the brake light cut out un cut and the end user could then either cut the dash for the later lights or simply mount the light assembly below the dash on the 76-77,early 78 models.
That's the least work for them and the maximum flexibility of the tub.
For me it doesn't matter since I just want a 3/4 tub

I got my floor pans today and I’m less than thrilled.
While I’m not going for a full restoration, things like significant panel replacement are important to me. Without putting a mic on these they feel thin. The packaging was half ass and this one pan I pulled out of the packaging was very rippled.

Yeah that’s not good unfortunately 😔. That texture is disconcerting too.

Had a chance to put a thickness gauge on these floor pans, 18g slot fits with a bit of slop? Could be 19? Most certainly thinner than the floor pans it was made with…

Will not be putting these in. How they handle the return will dictate if I’ll use them again for door patches etc…

Was it shipping damage or sent out like that? The packaging looks like they didn't try too hard to protect it and it took some hits.
The ripples are from production no doubt.

The duct tape is weird, usually not used in shipping.

I have seen it though where the shipping company will try to re-seal a box after it's been damaged in transit so maybe that happens here. Which means originally it might not have been packaged good enough

Edit: Noticed the shipping label is on the outside of the tape so it must have been used from their shop

While I appreciate your positive outlook, I'm fairly certain this is how it was packaged. Another anomaly is that when I received the shipping notification from UPS, it stated the package was coming from Kentucky, not Temecula, CA. I was confused as to what package that could be until it showed up, albeit with a Temecula return address.

I'll report back as to how the return process goes.

that's just sad then.

I emailed the company and PM'd the OP of this thread this morning and have heard nothing. Customer service folks must be out in the warehouse slapping duct tape on old used boxes I guess... Really curious to see what kind of hit they'll expect me take to return these soda pop cans.

Moments after posting the previous post, I received a call from Jesse at TP Auto Parts. His primary question was why I wanted to return the floor pans.
My response was that 1) they are too thin gauge of metal to use as floor pans (I could literally flex them by pushing down with my hand) and 2) they were very rippled from something in their stamping process. I did gloss over the packaging as a first impressions type of concern as I really don't care if they reuse boxes and what not.

Anyway, Jesse was very nice and seemed genuinely concerned about these issues.

Resolution is that I have a shipping label in my inbox and a claimed full refund (purchase and shipping) coming my way. Solid. It's what I was hoping for and what is right.

I explained to them that this culture/group/whatever is fairly rabid about these trucks and parts like this won't keep them around for long.
I, for one, want them to succeed but I want them to produce solid parts if for no other reason than to give the other guys a bit of competition.

Anyway, that's my experience as of now.
