Regarding chainsaws, I'd been scheming of ways to mount a Stihl farm boss to the truck but am amused with the idea of adding this ridiculous Silky saw to my kit instead:

I'm kinda serious, though I'd be more likely to use the 650mm instead of the 1000. I mainly want a saw for clearing an existing road compared to trail-blazing (not planning a McKenzie trip anytime soon, in other words).

Just thought I'd share the Silky saw with y'all since chainsaws were mentioned.

Ok, now THAT is a cool saw!!!! Even the 650 is looking pretty cool - no chainsaw allowed here in Central Oregon for quite a few months because of fire concerns, I think I am picking up one of these... thanks for sharing the link!

@TonyP , did you ever relocate the power steering reservoir?
just got a universal battery relocation kit from Summit to add a second battery.
doesn't look like much real estate in that corner.

Sort of. The bolt hole closest to the front I left in, rotated the bracket outward and drilled another hole for the second (middle) bracket hole. The 3rd hole just hangings over the edge. Works fine.

The front will be finished this week and then on to the rear.

Sliders are all done now too. If you can bend these MFs.... I feel sorry for you..... .188" wall DOM tube and triple .188" tread plates...

That and I'm lazy :D

But I usually blast the engine bay every couple of months with cleaner.

Hey Tony-

What do you blast it with?

I've been wanting to clean mine out, but wonder what is safe to "blast" in there...

Nicer to reach around in there when you don't come out caked with crap.

For the land Cruiser I just use some cheap foaming Autozone engine cleaner, let it sit for a few minutes, and use the light spray setting at the self serve car wash place. Avoiding the electrical bits as much as possible. But a light spray on them is usually ok. Just don't use the power wash feature into your fuse box or anything. For the caked on stuff you can use a brush but that's overkill for me.

Mogwai turned me onto Simple Green. Spray wait a minute or so and rinse, needless to say shield the delicates from any robust spray

I use Simple Green and gently rinse at a self service car wash bay as well.

I use Simple Green for Aircraft. It's non-corrosive to aluminum, rubber, plastics, etc. Standard Simple Green will corrode those items if you're not careful. (This info is in the FAQ section on Simple Green's website Simple Green FAQs) I picked up some on Amazon.

Huh. Never heard of this stuff. I've used the usual Simple Green for years for degreasing but it does leave a film that will corrode aluminum.

Just put a gallon in my Amazon cart. Thanks!
