Need a new front bumper for good 'ol 3XLOCKD. I'm not thrilled about tube bumpers, but I despise the weight of steel plate bumpers. I want something that strikes a reasonable balance. But first, we need some measurements. How about a nice point cloud. I'll use this thread to chronical what I'm doing. Updates will be slow, but the result should be worthwhile.

Let's go!

oh yeah.

ditto. happy to help with any 2d/3d autocad stuff.

I'm reading/listening

Factory bumper weighs 40 ish pounds. Arb weighs 100 pounds. 60 additional pounds is not very much, especially considering it's engineered crash tested. What bumpers are you talking about that weigh so much?

Factory bumper weighs 30lbs? Man, I swore it was lighter than that. It's pretty much one piece of curved sheet metal with two end caps. Not that I doubt you, I just like lighter rather than heavier.

So here's the deal. I worked with an incredible team over at Rogue Racing on some killer bumpers for a 2017 Ford F-250 Super Duty. The bumpers they developed for the Super Duty were absolutely knock-out gorgeous. Seriously, they're mad design geniuses. I want to see what we can do to translate their design to the 80.

Here's where I think we're headed...

Now here's a Mud member who has all the cool tools, he has his own car sized coordinate measuring machine, how crazy is that.

Ha. I wish. I'm just fortunate to work at a car place.

You can run FEA and Minimize Material and Maximize Strength, but in reality your putting it on a Tank.

That said, I can't wait to see it, and I'm pushing for you.

Emulate this design with tube (which it pretty much already is) and weld a diamond plate cover where it says Rogue.
