Hi

Short story: looking for a tie rod end that would fit my fj40 with a pitman arm from anF250. Anyone know where I can find that part? I’d be open to this solution or a different combo of ~7.5” pitmanarm and tie rod end.

Longer story: I had to replace my Saginaw steering box. Decided to go to a 4 turn which took me down a rabbit hole of required changes. Had to change my u joint on the steering shaft to PS box (bc the box end was different). Then the u joint was shorter than the old Ken sk had to change to a different setterinv shaft (went collapsible) which drove replacing the upper u joint. Then once it was all together, I realized my turning radius was decreased. I believe the old box (which was junked) had internal stops adjusted. So now I want to get a longer pitman arm to reclaim some of the turn radius. After researching, I went with the F250 pitman arm, but the tie rod end taper is oversized vs my tre…. So no I’m looking for a tie rod end to fit. Anyone know of a tie rod end that would fit the fj40 drag link (I think that’s what it’s called) and the pitman arm from the F250 (it was like .67” diameter at the small end and .77” at the large end.)

Got any machinist friends? There are tapered reamers for almost everything. A converter bushing could be made that has one taper on the outside and a different one on the inside.
