Thank you. I absolutely love this thing. I’ll be working on half doors soon & hooking up the A/C. When tax season is over. ;)
Curious to know how the AC install went and the progress on the halfdoors you were making?

Actually have not installed the AC. I've figured out that I just don't drive it like a daily driver. If I'm in the 40, I'm dressed for the weather anyway so I just don't need the AC as long as I'm moving.

I'll have to check on the half door progress. My paint & body guy still has them.

I've pretty much considered the 40 a done deal & moved on to my next project..

Great Build, I wish I'd paid more attention to this when I lived in Fayetteville, GA. I could have stopped in and got some pointers. Love the 280, don't remember ever seeing it in the GA Z club? I had a 91 300ZX TT, but sold it and used the cash to get my 82 FJ40.

Just re-read this for a 2nd time, I'm having issues with the same A/C unit. Working, then leaking and now not working. Loved the job you've done on it all. Now thinking I might try to restore the A/C unit just like you did. I am also considering a new Nostalgic A/C evaportor or getting the Vintage Air Gen 4, but that eliminates the OEM heater. So I'm not sure what to do. My wife requires A/C that's all she asked for when I got it.

The Vintage Air Gen 4 is an amazing unit... just saying. I've done three AC installs now on a few trucks... Previous-get Vintage Air, Old Air Hurricane, and the Vintage Air Gen 4. While I love the form factor of the Old Air's best... the VAGen4 is by far the best performing. Use it as your heater to.

I wasn't happy with the interior lighting under the dash...

While deciding whether to sell or restore mine I started browsing your thread. This thread is amazing. And when I to to this photo I almost spit out my coffee. I'd be happy with ANY lighting in my 40. When I drive it at night, the only light I have is outside!!

Absolutely brilliant mate. I read the whole thread from start to finish. Looks absolutely amazing, you should be super proud.

Do you have a part number for the condenser you used? How thick is it?

I’ll have to look & see if I can find anything on the part number. Guessing about 3/4” thick

My son is doing a build and 3/4” is what we need!
