Steel shims to replace the aluminum ones

Some progress. The 4plus ubolt flip kit and steel shims went on fairly easy. Had to make a trip to the hardware store to get bolts to hold the new steel shims in place. The center brake hose went on with out a hitch.
The tundra lines 90080-94071 aren’t rounded in the end therefore I couldn’t get the retainer clip on to secure it to the axle. Ordered OEM and will be returning these.

@Goldbug ……PO left me a huge file with receipts. The lift kit is 2.5 inch HFS from CCOT.
Aluminum 6 degree shims were put on with that lift. I didn’t know if I should change or leave it as is.
So I ordered steel 6 degree.

A file? Receipts? 🤣

You’re a lucky man. I do think I have a HFS but not sure how high, and no shims currently. Just finished adjusting toe with a home made bracket that worked quite well.

I think I’ll remove my front driveshaft and measure pinion flange. Then order steel from Vaey Hybrids.

@Goldbug FYI.. I think CCOT only sells 2.5 and 4 inch lifts. I ordered my steel shims from valley also.
Good call.
You could call CCOT. They have been really helpful and might give you some information to help guide your decision.

What method did you use to measure your caster and decide on 6 degree shims?

Looking at shims and possibly even the flip kit in my near future.
In the past I used an angle finder on the lower trunion bearing cap. You need to be on level ground and all tires have the same pressure. The suspension needs the weight of the vehicle on it. You can do it with jackstands too, but you need to level the vehicle and the stands need to be under the axles. I put the angle finder on the edge of the trunion bearing cap as in the pic below. Don't use the studs, nuts, or washers. It I'll get you close.

This is the most useful post I’ve found so far on caster. Thanks!

Finally found some time to replace those front brake lines. Crazy busy with the kids. Brakes bled
while simultaneously helping my daughter and her classmate make, decorate and find the surface area of a enneagonal prism. I have not had the pleasure yet but I am fairly certain I would rather do a knuckle job more that the 7th grade math project I just assisted with.
Fired her up for the first time in 2 weeks. I was amazed how easily she fired right up.
Felt good to drive her. Looking forward driving her to work tomorrow.

Drove her Monday and Tuesday but she is sidelined again. Ordered windows and doors for my home in August of last year. They arrived today so I had to make room in the garage for storage. This plus the fact that we are headed to CO next week left me no choice but to push the Iron Yak to the back of the garage. Looks like no driving until the windows and doors are out of the way.
I made a 105/100 on the math project😂
And saw this at my place of employment….have to find who owns it.

If that’s the one I think it is I believe it’s a h diesel.
I’ve left a note on his wiper a few times over the years when I see it out at McGuires etc. I actually know where he lives from looking at a home in his neighborhood a few years back but don’t want to be to creepy. I sometimes drive it by when stretching my cruisers legs hoping he’ll be outside and interested in cruiser talk.

The Iron Yak is still being held hostage by this construction dumpster. Fingers crossed it will be out of the way early next week.

Pulled out of the cave and was able to sneak it between the dumpster and a tree not shown in the photo above.
Talking with @JDNs78FJ40 this afternoon and realized my timing was a bit too advanced. No idea why as I thought I had it set at 10 degrees BTDC Now it’s set at 10 degrees BTDC, idleing at 750RPMs and the IAC on the sniper is reading 2 or 3.

199 miles since sniper install. It is running great. 10.96 mpg
Must have overfilled the tank. Arrived home and found fuel leaking from the line that goes from CC back to the tank.

Fooling with my timing last week my sweet spot is about 8 degrees without a sniper with a freshly rebuilt head. My compression is a bit high and I had some pinging. Need to check vacuum next and adjust the valves.
