Current Todo list (2/12/2022):

• Cooling system overhaul
• Muffler fixing
• Wire lights for rear bumper (parts on order)
• Sleeping platform for 2nd row (compliments the existing drawers)
• Rear brake squeals when turning, going to see what the actions in this thread bring:

• Fuel Filter.
• What is still leaking ATF, and from where
  • I have already replaced the high pressure and low pressure hoses, and installed a derale cooler.
  • Current leaking is seen on the gearbox, almost like fluid is being poured on top of it.
• Anything that has a zirc fitting, grease it
• Check grease in driver's knuckle
• Creature comforts:
  • Figure out why the left drivers door speaker keeps cutting out.
  • Figure out why the spark can be heard through the radio.
  • Some "creative" upholstery work to make the drivers seat better on the cheap
  • If an opportunity arises, get a double DIN head unit with apple car play. - Pending
  • Cup holders

Sunday Funday:

Parts canon at rock auto was loaded last night.
Wits end part canon tonight

Found a free set of vicegrips under the rear end.
Cleaned enough sand to supply a small town in winter out of various crevices / body panels
Previous owner had snapped one of the front recovery points off, so I removed the part that was interfering with the bolt.
Part 1 of preparing for power steering hose replacement
Replaced diff oil front / rear (previous service interval unknown)
New wipers, Front / Rear
Some red tape / film for the tail lights so I can get this inspected
Slightly alarming quantity of metal shavings on the front diff drain plug.

Power steering hoses are all pretty much toast, parts cannon was loaded and fired, planning on getting some buddies together next weekend to do the following:

Re-install the power steering system / bleed it.
Flush / Bleed brake system / Swear at ABS light.
Adjust the panhards a bit better so both ends move in the same direction when going through compressions.

Delights of what the previous owner has done continues.
These are barely in.
The pretty good looking steelies have the same backspacing as OEM (around 4.25")

Tires are 35x12.5 R17, wondering if I can find steel rims that have a backspacing of ~2.75" (to accomplish the same thing as these spacers)

I did a little research, but this is my first time really looking at tires / rims / vehicle fitment

It seems that the OEM steel rims are 7.5" wide (some people say that 7.5"rims are a bit too narrow for 35" tires)

The spacers are 1.5"
I would want to try and source 17*8 rims with backspace of 3"?
Tires are 35" 12.5 aspect, 17" rim

I did a little research, but this is my first time really looking at tires / rims / vehicle fitment

FWIW I (and many others) ran spacers on my old car for years and had no issues. Although I had extra threads left on the studs there...

alrighty, current status:

Got the title transfer going at the DMV (Surprisingly easy part)

To do list:
Fix rear axle seals so no more diff oil escapes / ruins all of the below: (parts on order)
Replace rear rotors / pads (both are shot / coated in oil)
Fix parking brake (new shoes / de-greasing will hopefully work) (need to order parking brake shoes)
Make the 02 sensor in the rear STFU long enough for an inspection
Replace the rear studs since they are pretty beat
Pass NC inspection

I did not buy a reman pump, or a rebuild kit, I think it was just the hoses that were toast.
The new rein hoses are in, and there is a loop bypassing where the paperclip cooler would be, that makes it functional enough to drive 10 mins to the inspection station

You definitely don't want a wheel that is 12.5" wide. and I would not go any more 3.5" back spacing

IMHO if your looking for steel wheels then theses Rock Crawler wheel by Pro Comp that I got from Summit racing are the perfect size and back spacing for you tires and application

I went and sat in the cruiser in the rain today, 2 little wet areas at the bottom of the windshield on the inside.
Looked at some previous threads, and tried to clean out the sunroof drains as best as I could while it was raining, will try and clean them more thoroughly tomorrow.
Both were clogged, so hopefully looking after that fixes the issue

Installed a new drivers side grab handle, old one was toast.

Got a large parts shipment in, should have enough now to rebuild the rear axle seals / put new rotors on / fix the parking brake / get this inspected hopefully

Did transmission / transfer case fluid last night.
Scraped some more ATF soaked sand off of various parts of the frame.
Going to look at the front diff breather today, and make sure it's not clogged up.
Will start the axle seal replacements once I get back from Christmas shopping I forgot for a few people

Made some progress on the rear axle seals.
Only to discover that the rear bearings were cooked as well, Koyos are on order from Napa.
@Delta VS panhard lift bracket is on order too

One side of the rear axle has been rebuilt today.
Temporary tag expires tomorrow, planning on finishing up, and heading to an inspection station!
Put the following parts on to remedy the blown axle seals:
Bosch parking brake shoes
Toyota pads / rotors (those were pretty done)
Koyo rear axle bearings (those were done as well, pitted)
Toyota axle seals
Toyota Cone washers

Bearings were packed with Lucas #2 tacky

Did the first oil change in my ownership.

Inspection passed today!
On the last day of the temp plates being valid
Got the parking brake to function after replacing pretty much most of the seals in the rear axle / parking brake shoes / brake pads / rotors.
