Discovered today that there was a knuckle stud sheared off in the knuckle.
But I did replace the tie rod ends with some 555s the previous owner had purchased, only 1 code brown situation using the ball joint press
Not good, you need to get that corrected ASAP

yeah :(
Going to get a front knuckle rebuild kit while I am at it, since it looks like to fix the sheared stud I am more or less rebuilding the front knuckle anyway
I've got to do the same but it's because my driver's side inner axle seal has failed. Cruiseroutfitters has the kit.

Ordered a LCP battery hold down kit since mine came with no battery hold down at all.
Got a transfer case extension as well while I was there.
I'm in the minority here but I like the factory battery hold-downs.

yeah, I would like to

I did a little research, but this is my first time really looking at tires / rims / vehicle fitment

It seems that the OEM steel rims are 7.5" wide (some people say that 7.5"rims are a bit too narrow for 35" tires)

The spacers are 1.5"
I would want to try and source 17*12.5 rims with backspace of 3"?
Tires are 35" 12.5 aspect, 17" rim

Going to have to dig around in the rims thread

8" rim is good for 35s IMO.
No way I would run a 12.5" rim.
Too wide a rim and you'll break the bead on tyres offroad far more easily.

I had 33s on 10" rims on my first 80. Had regular issues breaking the bead and losing air, or getting twigs stuck in the bead. Changed to 8" rims, same set of tyres and never had the same issue.

mmm, also discovered today that neither of the rear doors lock when using the power lock system.
Found this thread:
Will likely be ordering these at some point:

Fixed the issue with the busted stud, thanks to easy outs for working like a champ!

And test fitted the new studs, the etorx fastener is quite nice.

Probably will pull the drivers side birf off as well, and replace the studs too

You're far too neat and tidy.
My pants could be wrapped around a stick and used as an oil torch after some of the jobs I've done.

Windshield gasket is more or less done, I left a washcloth in the passenger corner of the windshield overnight, and the washcloth was pretty soaked this morning. Floor was *nearly* dry though on that side.

On the subject of the windshield.
Has anyone tried the kits to remove streaks / scratches from the windshield?
From what I can tell, the PO used the wipers a good amount while there was sand on / in them, leaving some scratches

Also brake lines are kinda done.
Am waiting on the SLEE ones to come back in stock, but might grab some Napa ones for the brake lines that actually need to be replaced

While waiting on parts, some bicycle rack thoughts:
Goals:
Mount the bike rack up on the bumper swingarm, so access to rear drawers / being able to use the tailgate as a seat
Remove the factory hitch receiver.
Be able to attach a 2" receiver for the rack.

This overall represents my bicycle dimensions (the vertical stick is ~5" shorter than my bike):
80" long 44" tall
And the ideal location of the bike (Bike is roughly centered, but is still wider than the cruiser 😅 ).

Ideally, I would like to install something as close to the middle as possible so the bike stick out would be as even as possible from side to side.

The below 2X6 (piece of wood in the middle) is 5.5" * 18.25" which is juuuuuuuuust the right dimensions.
That 18.25" would include both the hitch / rack assembly and the first tray that the bike sits in would be at ~18.25"

Good news is that where the swingarm has the latch is very sturdy, and there is no play in the arm once the arm is closed up.

Look into the manafre stainless brake lines.

Let me know what you find for the windshield gasket. Mine is toast and leaks with every rain. Sealant has to be added to both sides of the gasket and not too many shops know to install the glass the right way.
