Happy Tax Stamp day...
Applied 4/18/20221 received approval 5/5/2022

Excited to shoot some suppressed .22lr

Congratulations.

You are well ahead of me. I applied for the tax stamp on Thursday (5/5) for the suppressor for the CZ that finally came in two weeks ago (after special order led to 7 month wait). Clearly, our approaches to suppressed 22lr shooting will vary in excitement.

I hear approval times are under 90 days now, good luck.

Nice rig!! I plan to pick up a bolt .22 at some point but the suppressed AR-pistol will be perfect for the kids to learn on

The shop where I purchased the suppressor told me to expect 60-90 days with the most recent changes. Proof will be readily checked. Until then, big talk (from a one-eyed fat man)

For introducing the grandkids to shooting and teaching them safety, I am considering one of the youth-sized bolt actions. It may not have the fun-to-shoot element like your AR. Teaching the grandkids is still a few years off, so I am interested in your results. Always open to changes that deliver the best results.

My grandson is 8 months but it's never to early to get your first gun 😅
My daughter is expecting and they've decided to name him Daniel... I'm thinking Daniel Defense!!

To be honest, I hope this will get my wife to shoot. She'll go to the range with us but won't shoot.

Ok, so I will be teaching grandkids first. Grandson is 7 and granddaughter is 3, with my daughter starting her 3rd trimester with the 3rd grandkido.

I have been able to get my wife to the range once and only once. It has been over a year since she purchased her own S&W, but has never fired it yet. I do not understand. But I agree with your theory that if the grandkids come, she will tag along. It certainly worked that with TLCA events ... whenever the grandson came along, grandma came too. Now there have been a string of events where the grandson could not come along, but grandma did.

Luckily, our youngest daughter is more straight forward and easier for me to understand. She enjoys going to the range and shooting. She prefers pistols (especially 380s) and her proficiency is coming along nicely. She is also getting better with the rifles. I purchased a Kimber 82G last year specifically for her. Once I removed the stock inserts, the length was a better fit for her than my other target rifles. Her accuracy and comfort with the 82G reflected a positive change in fitment.

I also picked up a conversion kit for the son-in-law's AR15 so it can fire 22lr. The AR has fully adjustable rear stock. My hope is it will not only be easy to fire but also demonstrate good fitment where she will want her own AR.

Good luck.

All these tax stamp items should just be made legal.

My guess - no "consumer" suppressor ever "assisted" in killing anyone due to its characteristics (not just attached). (I could be wrong)

Tax dollars wasted with this stuff.

Don't get me started on limiting gun purchases, though - I feel "less 'Republican'" on that topic.

Couldn't agree more... short-barrels and sound suppression do not contribute to "gun violence" and neither do 'Ghost guns' but that doesn't stop them from trying.... However, criminals don't really follow laws.

NJ is currently trying to get an Ammo registry enacted so you have to register all of your ammo over and above your guns

@weejub but limiting my purchase power only hurts the economy. Ok, I said that just to get a rise out of you. Now back to our regularly scheduled programming.

Georgine (1999 100 series daily driver) was hit by an errant bullet this morning at 1:37am while minding her own business sleepily parking in front of my house.

A dark sedan blocked the intersection near my house and two individuals exited the sedan and opened fire on another car that was following behind them.

Georgine has a bullet lodged in the horn contact just below the steering wheel air bag. Horn permanently on.

Can I just start unscrewing and unbolting the airbag or is it like a Volvo, where you have to tame the magic yellow handle prior to sticking your tongue out?

Spoke with claims, they verbally ok’d taking the bag out to move the vehicle to the repair shop. Jyst so happens I have to drive six hours tomorrow to pick up my daughters stuff from college and two hours on Friday to a church mens retreat (sleeping in the old girl. Then Monday I should be able to move it. 9mm variety.

That's a little close for comfort. Is this at the new place?

Same home for 25 years. New place will have fortifications and one story living. This has motivated the “War Dept” into negotiations for said new location.

Never mind, I was thinking James.

Once again a mass killing has occurred in our country. Once again those that represent us are bringing up the issue of " assault weapons".

How about a teeny tiny bit of research on the subject on the part of these representatives. A quick Google search reveals that over 70% of these mass shootings are done with hand guns.

The real issue, in my mind is two fold. Just shy of 50% of the shooters told someone their plans prior to the event. It is clear that a shooter HAS mental issues, no person of sound mind would shoot anyone without clear reason, let alone multiple victims. The second is Gun owner responsibility. If one of my guns is taken by someone in my home and then used to kill someone, I stand partial responsibility. Granted, if stolen and reported it is a different story.

We, as a country, continue to point the finger at the tool used in the killing rather than the underlying contributing factors. Until we get at least some handle on what is contributing to so many mass shooting right here in our own back yard, limiting any form of gun is a band aide. As for my own part, we keep guns and ammunition locked up except for home defense and carry weapons. When we have company, these too are in the safe.

I firmly believe that our government will confiscate some weapons before they even consider taking deeper steps on some sort of prevention. Right now all actions appear to be reactive rather than proactive. It'll only continue until we get out ahead of it.

In Australia a gun owner must justify the reason for the purpose of a gun of any kind. This has merit in my mind. Consider the case of the shooter in Sandy Hook. He "stole" a rifle from his mother is the contention (God knows real truth these days). This was in Connecticut. What was the purpose of purchase for his mother? We can not ask her because the shooter killed her too.

This is a subject with many different points of view. I think that we can all agree that we need to figure out and stop shooters. We are mostly all gun owners here and many of us shoot for sport and many conceal carry to some level. Many of us believe that gun ownership is a right. I see it more as a privilege. I am writing this because I do not have the answers aside from what is above. The killing of little kids has me deeply upset and grasping for something to make it make sense. I'll be grasping for a long time....
