@mtweller did someone say zodiac? I like this one.

Palmer and I just got back from another adventure - and a 1st for me in 40+ years of fishing. Catching hogfish on rod and reel. We have always speared these guys among the coral heads in the islands but this guy in Bermuda has it figured out with crabs and light tackle. Lots of snapper, mackerel and little tuna schools too. Great day and lifelong memories.

Very cool!! I have speared many Hog Snapper over the years and had heard of guys in the Bahamas catching them on light tackle but never heard about it in the Keys. I miss spearfishing :(

Yeah prior to this trip I have always harvested hogs while under water with a spear of some sort, usually after the spiny tail limit was filled. I knew more than one Bahamian years ago that swore they wouldn't even take a baited hook. This guy in Bermuda has it down to a science - 100% sight fishing, poling the clear flats and shallows up above on his platform and when he spots one, he guides the angler through casting and presentation. Whole different ballgame and equally as fun - and tasty. 🤤

Many years ago at Hatteras!

We will be right near ramp 55.

Labor Day update, as we prepare for what could be an interesting weather week we figured we give high tide a chance and do a little kayaking! No fish other then some decent shrimp and a nice blue crab.
