Where did you get the procar seats? I'm searching for something for a 1979 right now.

When searching for parts, you run across some interesting people. After deciding on the Procar Rally style seats, the search was on. Obviously I found them in places like Summit, Jegs, and other outlets, but I also searched Craigslist. What luck, I just happen to find a guy about 30 miles away wanting to get rid of a set. He was going to use them in a 67 Camaro restoration, but went a different route. So we settled on a price, and I went and picked them up. After chatting for a while, come to find out the guy has two restored Corvettes in the museum where the sinkhole ate some vets. He has some cool resto's. Note, paid half price for the set.

Then I called SCAT and ordered the correct seat brackets to work with my original seat brackets. They helped me out too....;)

Here is the website of the guy (Father/Son Corvette Restorations) I got my Procar seats from, Jett Vettes, LLC.

This is a photo of one of their Vettes on loan in the National Museum.

All of your "afters" are phenomenal. I still plan to use your guy to widen another set of steelies for me.

BTW if you ever decide to pull the rear carpet, use WD-40 to soak the double-sided tape that the PO likely used...it'll make an hours-long project take minutes!

Great truck...great thread!

You like the afters?......Here is a funny one. Just completed my first Carb rebuild.

You know, the minor things I do to my 40 make me smile as much as some of the major things. Here is a good example of that. Tucking the carpet under the outer shifter boot, gives it a more finished look.

Next up for my 40: I've got my turn signal pins welded in place, thus time to install my JDM AE86 steering wheel. I'll also post up an easy way to pull the steering wheel without a 'Steering Wheel Puller' or using the 'Jerk or Yank' method. :hillbilly:

Kind of taking it easy on the modifications these days and just driving my rig. However, I noticed one of my rear speakers wasn't working. That prompted a complete speaker rewire from dash to rear doors. Yep, I said rear doors. Some "Bone Head" PO cut the rear doors for speakers, such is life. My 40 isn't any show winner anyway, so no biggie to me.

I removed the existing wiring that had three different splices from front to back. Sure enough, the right rear speaker wire was pinched and grounded out. Also, the previous wiring was run thru the rig, under the carpet, up the side, thru the channels to the back. And it didn't look so good!....I rerouted the wire thru the floor where the fuel sender line runs, along the right rear frame rail, and up through the holes where the rear marker lights are run, and into the doors. Here, have a look.

One nice item to have handy for running wire on my rig, 1/4" Insultherm, see below. This stuff makes for a great conduit and wire protection.

What's the plan for the speakers when you pop the top for summer?

You must live in a Hicktown. LOL
You have no idea!....My 40 looks like a fancy star on top of a Christmas Tree sitting out front of my trailer. Heck, my front porch fell-in last week and killed a two hound dogs and four of my laying hens under there. The whole trailer park showed up for their funeral, and then we ate the chickens...Fried of course!

Really, I do live out in the country where I get to enjoy my 40 and Mother Nature.
