Excellent thread GA Architect! I recently purchased my first FJ40 (1975) and subsequently came across this thread. It took a bit, but I'm all caught up on the 49 pages of great info here. Your attention to detail in both your mods and write-ups are perfect for a newbie such as myself. Thanks, and keep it coming!

FINALLY....Received my re-worked & re-webbed OEM seat belts. Not the greatest of pics, but just documenting the work. :)

Who did the belts for you

One caveat to this post, only contact this person if you have plenty of time, and I mean there is no urgency needed of the seat belts you send.......It took over 8 months to get them back!!! Now they did a great job. The OEM tags were stitched on the new webbing, and even replaced both broken plastic re-tractor catches by virtue of a 3D printed new part. They now are nice and smooth, I'm happy I had them done. The company, Sharon's Web.

Couldn't pass up this deal, Baldwin B2. So I bought a few and should be set for a while.

Should they not perform as intended, I can always screw on a Wix 51515.

Installed these Toyota OEM 87901-55011 convex mirror units the other night. Now I can see where I'm putting my right rear tire when parking in the get-a-way position. Curbs aren't very friendly to the white lettering on tires.

Those look nice. I like the all metal design. I wonder how they would work with hard top doors?

If you are referencing using the all metal mirrors on the 87902-90301 & 87905-90301 arms with the mounting ball, someone on MUD has done this. They unscrewed the mirror metal back plate, removed it's mounting ball & stud, and cut a grove in the plate to slide over the mounting ball. Then screw the back plate onto the mirror back with the arm's mounting ball installed.....There is a photo on MUD that shows this, > click here < and view post #98.

And what is the all in for this set up?:)

Rick were your retractors not working well on your rig? Did they repair the retractors too? I need my passenger side retractors fixed

Rick
Do you like these better than the plastic hard door mirrors and will you run this set up when you put your hard doers back on?

I thought about that today....I will probably reinstall the plastic back mirrors. My door paint shows the outline of where the OEM mirror arms should be. I don't have an issue with the plastic units. Yes they are cheep and I can always buy more if needed. One of a few things that I willing not to buy the OEM part even though it is available.

Yes, both retractors were repaired. The plastic retractor stops/cogs were broken into several pieces, but new ones were 3D printed and installed. They work just fine now.
