Inflation, cost of new molds, oil prices, the war in Iraq, new company with a better final product, shipping prices going up...
My initial estimate was based on the 45LPB lenses which was done by a different company almost three years ago.

Yep, Im in the molding business and we have had material costs go through the roof in the last few years. Makes it real hard to quote on parts. When we get an order we have to check material prices and adjust the quote but most people understand. Oil isnt just for the gas in your car.

It sounds like a lot for new lenses, but it is market price. The last pair of OEM ones on ebay went for just about $110.
