Thanks for the intercooler tip. We'll see what happens! It's amazing the little plumbing issues that come up once its all set in place! I had planned on keeping my rear heater but decided at bout 10pm last night that all that was in the way of my downtube for the exhaust. I figure that heat in the cab is the least of my worries. Need a good rear heater and plumbing?

Can't you just swap pulleys real quick? Shouldn't be hard to find an 8 rib pulley for it.
I like what you have so far. Interested to see what you end up with for your intercooler.

I'm slowly accumulating the pile of parts for my 6BT swap. I'll probably start on it in the fall. Ended up deiciding on a Dana 60 front, and a C&C 14 bolt.

Yeah, thats what I am going to do. Hopefully they still have my core alternator at advance auto.

D60 and the 14 bolt is the way to go with the 6BT.

I am planning on reusing my rear heater thanks for the offer though. The tube for in cabin heat got a bit smashed up while I was putting the motor in my truck though. I'll just sweat some pipe in there and it should be all good.

You could always stack the truck if you want to keep your rear heat.

My son thinks we should stack out of the hood with a tractor flapper on top. Would solve my planned exhaust maze.

All I wanted to do today was get 1 thing accomplished on the truck and unfortunately I failed to do that.

So I just quit for the night with nothing gained.

I think most if not all of us have had days like that and dropping it for the day is the best thing you can do.

To say I hadn't thought about doing that would be a lie. It would be so easy to just vent out the hood. I think its really just this video that motivated me to want it:

I am at the point that any resistance is met with the torch.

Well today was much better than monday, I made a run to advance auto last night and thankfully they still had my old alternator. So I brought it back to the shop, got the old pulley off and installed on the new ALT.



I also sacrificed one of my old extended brake lines to fulfill the role of the damaged oil line. With that mated to the vacuum pump and new power steering pump I finished installing that today as well.





The last thing I worked on today was getting the coolant lines completed. For the time being I will bypass the rear heater in favor of a simpler system. I have the upper hose buttoned up, the lower hose is 98% finished and the remaining heater hoses are almost completed as well.

I posted the correct sizes somewhere in my build thread. I'll try scanning it later (I'm going to bed right now).

I've gone through both your thread and Boots' looking for it, I must have missed it.

So I am in the process of getting things ready to fire it up. On the short list of things to do is:

Battery install
Wire up the starter
Wire 12V to the cutoff solenoid
Wire the alternator
slap the downpipe on as a stack to redirect exhaust
Add some oil
Add some PS fluid


Boots if there is anything else I need to wire up that I might have missed please let me know. As of right now nothing has been rewired to the motor.

Man, I cant find it either. I could have sworn there was post where I specifically ask boots if you knows the sizes and then I seem to remember reposting the specific sizes... apparently I made that all up in my head though.

Just bring the unit to your local car parts store and dig through their fittings. I found most hot rod shops will have what you are looking for.

Hydraulic and/or forklift places are another great place to source fittings.

PSC lists what applications a particular fitting is for. I bet that you could find the fittings there.

yep, or just give them a call. I've always had great customer service from them.

Battery install - make sure you've got good, large wire grounding, I've got my battery grounded to chassis and the block grounded to chassis with 00 cable, it's what came on my stepvan.
Wire up the starter

I'm sure you already planned for these fluids too so this is just being thorough:
Coolant
Brake fluid
tranny, tcase, diff fluid

Aside from wiring sending units for gauges you've got it all. What are you going to do for a tach?

I am not planning on driving the truck at this point it is simply a test to make sure the engine is ready to run.
I will have coolant, but I do not have my brake lines run, would having no brake fluid in the master cause a problem?

Those field serviceable fittings are awesome. That's what I used to make the HP line for my Saginaw PS pump.

I know there is a way to get the stock tack to work and its gauge range is pretty good for a diesel rpm range. As a temporarily permanent fix I just went with a tiny tach, the diesel version (very easy to install). Someday it'd be nice to have the factory gauge work but since I at least have something I don't feel the need to get it working right away. I've got other things I'd rather do like a turbo upgrade or finish the drawers for the back.

BTW I know you looked but I'm hunting through my thread to see if I listed those ~AN fittings to the hydroboost unit anywhere. I'll post if I find anything.
