Its cummins along!
Hey your 6bt build link in your sig line isn't working btw

Thanks, I also fixed the link. I thought I had it squared away before but oh well. Your truck is lookin good too.

My new power steering pump showed up in the mail today. I figured the old pump had 180,000 miles and although it still worked ok, the addition of the hydroboost system would probably finish it off. I will keep it as a spare if there are any issues with it.

I just had a quick question about my vacuum pump though. I don't really need it to power anything, but I need to run my power steering pump off of the back. Can I just loop the lines to prevent them from getting clogged and it seizing? I'll have to take a look to see what others have done.... (Boots4)

Oh here is the new pump:

Well it turns out it is fairly easy to do the swap. (A quick search on google told me everything I need to know). The only issue will be getting lines that work. I plan on changing the lines over to AN-6 fittings anyway so it shouldn't be too bad. I just need to figure out the fittings that are necessary to adapt the lines into the stock toyota steering box.

Psc makes adapters for the toyota box flare fittings to -6an. That's what I used.

Cool thanks, I need a 16mm or a 17mm for the high pressure line?

How well do -6an lines hold up to higher pressures? The new pump I picked up is rated for 1,600 PSI, whereas the -6an is rated to 1,000 PSI right?

well you could use something like the above if you wanted to spend the $$

Hey thanks for the link, that stuff looks pretty good, a little on the pricey side but steering and braking are fairly important so I might need to look into that further.

I plan on bringing some fittings to a local hydraulic shop and see what they have to say about getting some hoses made up. If prices aren't too bad I might just have them do it.

Not too much to report, I haven't all that much time to work on the cruiser.

I managed to clean up the hydroboost unit I pulled from that Astro and went looking for the brake booster I had originally pulled off of the truck. I unfortunately must have tossed it into the scrap pile and now have to run over to the junkyard and try an see if I can find one of the ones I scrapped or pull one off of another truck.

I know there is a FJ80 on the lot and I think the booster should mount up. All I want to use it for is to cut the back off of it and open the hole in the center up to fit the hydroboost system,

Another thing I spent some time on is the front framerails. I got some channel and 1/4" plate for helping a buddy install a new 4" exhaust on his truck so I used the channel to brace the bottom of the frame together and used the plate to make tie ins off of my shackle hangers to bolt them to the bumper. I think this should be plenty strong enough to prevent twisting.

Nothin like paying $30 for something you already had two of but scrapped them.

Oh well, at least I have one now. Time to cut it apart and mount the hydroboost.

Also I wanted to post the mount I picked up for my transmission crossmember:

And part of my disk brake kit showed up today. Calipers and brackets.

I love brand new parts! Even other peoples. Nothing makes you feel better than freshly rebuilt brakes.

I know how that is, I have a bunch more coming too. Like this mounting kit for the NP205.

I had sent my D60 out to a local 4x4 shop this past wednesday to get a new ring and pinon put in and happily I got a call friday to come pick it up.

While they were in there they replaced all of the bearings and put the locker in as well.

So my goal for the weekend was to get everything ready to put that axle in for good.
On the to do list was:
Finish welding in the engine crossmember and gusset it
Weld and gusset rear spring hangers
Add my 5* shims
Paint the axle

I finished all of those things and got the dana 60 back where it belongs.

I will be moving the tie rod up to the high steer arms once I pick up some new TRE's and tube.

Also since I moved my front axle forward I will need to do a little trimming on my front fenders and valence. I was thinking of doing something like this:

Used this same kit. I had to do a little modification on it for my application but it worked great.

Looking good.

Thanks, I had noticed the kit on your build thread and it looked pretty nice. Plus the time it saves is worth is. Hopefully I will be able to get it installed this week sometime.

I got my radiator back from a welder I used to work with. I had him modify the location of the lower radiator hose.

I had him cut the old one off and plug it, then shift it to the bottom of the radiator to make sure it is out of the way. Here it is installed.

And here is a shot of the space between the radiator and the fan.

I am very happy with the way it turned out. I was also able to reuse the upper radiator hose from the dodge as well. I just need to hook up the lower hose and heater lines.
