Did call the insurance company to start a claim. In the meantime just waiting for any nearby mudder to have a quick looksie just to have some clue on what is wrong.
At the very least, they should pay for the mechanic. If you have any lawyer friends, a sternly worded letter on letterhead should do the trick.

All of this got me thinking...

It worries me that our over-built, over-spec'd, military grade tractors can be undone so utterly simply by a knuckle dragger.

Fortunately you have the driver for lying by stating that he didn't move it during transport, which the pics show he did. This blows his credibility and is virtually an admission of guilt.

We cannot undo this bump and grind with the vehicle in motion every 5-10 feet.

With a 35" tire that is going to be one revolution approximately every 9 feet. To me that says birf, axle or ring gear.

dont talk about yourself like that. buck up!

The only before pic I saw was the rig approaching the trailer, not on it....
edit: went back and now see that there is a truck farther up the trailer.. my bad!

after the in the air test, my next move would be draining the diff, then opening the knuckle...

I wouldn't mind driving by and checking it out. Unable to do it until Monday evening though.
I'd probably do as a previous poster mentioned and jack up all four wheels and put it in drive to diagnose it.

If someone could PM me the buyers contact info, I'll call him on Monday.

From what the noises seem to be, it really sounds like the ring gear to me. Truck driver has it in low and tries to give it some gas then pop goes the ring gear. Ask me how I know that.

When my ring gear went, the front started making a terrible noise with every revolution of the tire. Easiest way to check is to pull the drive shaft and the drive flanges. OR open the drain plug and see if any large metal chunks come out.

there some super nice 80 owners there in tampa that may be willing to check it out, or guide to to a good toyota shop.. but at the end of the day. who's responsibility is it to get it fixed and $ paid for? id tell the buyer to tow it to a shop and get it fixed. while thats going on contact the transporter, tell them the situation and give them the opportunity to do it the attorney free way. (them paying for it) or you will just turn it over to your attorney. this will get their attention and show them your intension. they have insurance...this is what its for. good luck

PMs replied. Got a couple mud members helping out and going to check out the 80. Thank you all for reaching out. Keep you guys posted.

After we asses the damage, I will give the insurance company a chance to make it right. If not, then I already have a close friend who just happens to be a lawyer in the same field of law.

i just bought an 80 series there in tampa last week..fri night got 10miles away and engine turned off !! I'm stranded on the side of interstate 9:30pm.. called the seller he got it towed home $80. got it fixed by his mechanic (blown fuse). i picked it up sunday. s*** happens in tampa its like the burmuda triangle..

Just got a message that Chester is enroute. Hopefully I get to know something soon. Thanks Ric!!!

With Chester in route, you're set. I got pm info, can get by this evening if needed.

Thank you Ric!
Spoke to the buyer and advised him to flatbed it over to the Toyota Dealer and document everything.
Gonna have a little chat with the insurance co Monday morning.
I really appreciate all the help and support from everyone here on Mud. Best community ever!

Thanks again, keep you guys posted for whats to come.

Been following this thread that sounds like it's going to be pricey. Don't know who I feel worse for 2kcruiser or the guy who bought the rig and can't drive it, bad situation all around hope the clowns responsible make it right.
