Thanks man, I appreciate it. He never talked much about his service time and what he went through, just always said " we did what we had to ". We didn't hear the whole story until we were in our thirties and my Mother had passed. I forgave him for buying the Rambler. :)

MY DAD TURNED 100 TODAY !!! May 26, 1921

We couldn't see him for his 99th because of the Covid lockdown, but made it this year. He's been in the Missouri Veteran's Home since he's been 89 with Alzheimer's. After losing his wife in 1990 he lived alone for 20 years until he couldn't manage anymore. He was awarded two purple hearts in WWll after being shot through both feet and almost losing his right arm to an explosion, recovered and went back to work for 42 years.

What a bad ass - 2 Purple Hearts?!?
Shot through both feet? I suspect there is not much that I will face in terms of challenges in life that will compare to what he has seen.
Please thank him for his service for me!

Yeah, I learned early on in life not to whine how hard I was having it.

Thanks Pablo and all you guys for thinking of him, but he would not handle the attention well., he would say others had it worse.

Thanks guys, my dad is very special to me not because he was the greatest dad or gave us the most stuff, etc. He worked two jobs for most of our early years, so we were on our own a lot, but when we needed him he was there never letting us down. Like they say today, he had our backs.

I just wanted to share with you a perfect day for me. After 100 years he still knows who I am, can't ask for more than that.

Me too! We weren't sure if he was going to make it. He seems healthy otherwise. Here's a link to explaining what he did in WWll and how he got hurt. He was on the U.S.S. Suwannee in the Air Group. Sorry for all the chit chat, back to tech.

I love that you are so proud of your Dad, and that he is still around!

Within the last few months I have had 3 friends lose their Fathers. These people are all younger than me. I called my Dad last week and told him I was glad he is still here...
 
Here's a project I've been working on. We needed a water tank of some sort instead of jugs, so I came up with this one. I had a guy make it for me, was hoping it would be my first tig project, but ran out of time. This guy is good, all stainless steel with baffles and I'm guessing around 15 plus gallons of potable water. I haven't finished the hold downs yet. The frig. will sit right behind it on the black mat. Definitely a two seater.

Hey Bob,

He has a small fab shop in a town close to me. If I'd know he was that good I would have drawn up a fanicer tank. He owned a tool and die co. for 30 years, knows his way around metal.

What's your guess, 15 gals. ?
