I ordered an intake gasket from my local autozone. I had it delivered to my home. When i opened the packaged the gasket looked damaged. Because of my current exhaust leak im afraid to replace it with this one. Im not sure if im over exaggerating but i thought i would ask ur opinion. Do u think that this gasket might fail sooner because of where the gasket got bent.

Also is this gasket gonna be header friendly for a 2f?

Thanks,

Oscar

Chances are it will be OK but why take that chance. If you have the time I think I'd order another.

Was the packaging damaged? The downside is, the next gasket may not be any different.

i would use it. If you get enough clamping force on it, it will flatten out and seal just fine.

I see, forget about the torque called for in the service manual and just crank the bolts and nuts till you cannot get them any tighter. That's a sure fired method for requiring the head to be removed so inserts can be installed to replace the stripped threads from applying excessive torque to intake/exhaust manifold hardware. Personally, I would buy a RemFlex intake/exhaust manifold gasket from the IH8MUD member that sells them. It comes straight and not folded.

I had one come from NAPA that was worse, the metal ring was pulling apart from the gasket material. I picked up a new one that was straight, since it's such a PIA to redo that job I say take you time and do it right.

Remflex gaskets are awesome. The mud member that sells them is iron_giant. PM him and he will hook you up. Pay close attention to the low torque specs and do not retorque. I had somebody else install them the first time and they over torqued. They blew out inside a month. I redid it myself and have been very pleased since. Maybe 3 years now.

Go ahead and install it. It's probably bad, but what the hey, it's your time being wasted, not mine. :D

It will probably work fine once torqued down.

Thank you guys for your opinion. But looks like most would say to replace it. I really only want to do this once. I will be ordering a new one.
