How stiff should the bib hinge be?

If its in the right position I dont understand why folks are trying to get it to move?

Its one part I wont be fussing with on my re-rebuild of my 76 and I definately wont be doing speed engine changes under enemy fire any time soon
If you ever need to service your radiator or even run some wires, it is a very handy hinge.

A heat gun and lubricant of your choice isn't a bad idea, but...

These things were never free like the door hinges, especially on the later models which weren't really designed to have the windshield dropped.

Pry the hinges into postion, as best you can estimate, and bolt the windshield back on.

I know this is off topic but i see no trouble dropping the windshield on later models 40 series , it is designed for that

True that and just below that piece of fire hose or whatever they used factory as a hinge pad it gets really rusty and pitted just like under most all the rest of of the hinges on the rig.

It Should move freely ,the two piece one is early ,all of mine that I’ve had 1974 and later are of the one piece design.
Mine is actually loose and floppy it nice if ya ever need to tip the bib forward loosen the fender bolts and in tips forward no need to even remove the bolts. Just loosen them.

Really? What did you do about the windshield wiper motor? After '73, it's on the outside of the windshield.

It can't:
