Yeah 100%!
If you have power steering take advantage run 285’s! Plus extras track width for most trails in the East is pretty handy!
I have the FJCO wheels and 235/85/16 on my non power steering 79’ FJ40, looks stock+ and steers and stops nicely, but would not be my preference for even a mild trail rig in my opinion.
FWIW I think the 255s look better. If they feel better why wouldn't you stay with them? Spec wise they are the same diameter but the 285s are 9" vs 7.7". Not sure if there are any other differences.Yeah. I agree. The 255s feel better. Stopping and steering. I'll go back to the 285s.
I think they look the best on the 75 pickups for sure.FWIW I think the 255s look better. If they feel better why wouldn't you stay with them? Spec wise they are the same diameter but the 285s are 9" vs 7.7". Not sure if there are any other differences.
Thanks for trying the 255s, when I finally decide to ditch the Dunlops on my 75 pickup I will probably go with those.
probably the braid wheels don’t fit right for 70s in general. but for 40 is epic.
the 75 you’re showing has those nice steels with a little bit of inn. love it
Nice. I’ve got a friend who really wants a set for his 40. I showed him the KY40 and other reviews.No. I think I'll order a set for this other FZJ70 I have for sale so I can see the difference
Did the Smoothie Vintique wheels work OK in the front without spacers? The Braid wheels and the City Racer wheels on the 75 both have the proper backspacing.
(3.25")
The Smoothie Vintiques are 4.0" BS. With that and the wider tire I have to run 1" spacers in the rear to keep the tires from rubbing the inner fender.
I think 255s on the Vintique would be narrow enough to not run that spacer.
They do.Did the Smoothie Vintique wheels work OK in the front without spacers?
Yep. I bought an FZJ75 with the same wheels and 285s. The tires rub in the back when I turn. The PO ran 1.5" spacers up front. I saw your post and thought about moving the front spacers to the back.
