fresh stripes always preferred in saudi haha
Shukran Meshal. I’m afraid it left Riyadh 2 years ago. Too bad we didn’t meet while I was there. I might have a few more KSA Land Cruisers now if we had.

Little morning project. I need to do the knuckles but I just snugged up the bearings and added the hubs.

So I’ve been driving this thing since the lift. It has a low speed driveshaft vibration.

Two options

One would be to shim it 3% pointing the pinion down to get it back at 0* and 0* and stick with the standard joints.

Two is to rotate the rear pinion up and run a double cardan shaft.

After talking to Tom Woods at length about it, he sold me on option 2.

It’s interesting that the rear 4 shafts I have built for all of my builds are 21” long with standard Ujoints and Ive never had a vibration issue.

Mind you the shake is on acceleration and only at low speed which is described well in this tech from Tom Woods

This shaft is 23” long with a 14* angle.

Article … see angle related. Joints are good. Did not do this prior to lift

My understanding has always been older Ujoints have wear patterns. Once you lift it, your joints are now running on different angles and wear spots and can cause vibration.

My first instinct would be to point it back down with shims and see if that goes away. Shims are cheap and easy.

That’s like a 100 series CV boot. They all leak after you change the angle. I believe you are correct.

Yeah, you know I can’t do cheap and easy.

Mo money! That’s what this “hobby” is all about…..🍻

Brendan’s 75 is still at the stereo shop so I was able to knock out some stuff today on the 1FZ Saudi 80 here local. Did a PS pump. Not as terrible as I was expecting. Then I added some spacers to the Dobinsons we had on it to raise it up another 30mm all around.

Next I cleaned the reusable paper Toyota filter. Honestly had no idea these existed. It was NASTY. Cleaned up great.

Then I did a radiator swap on ShortE This one was pretty far gone.

Where did you find a 1FZ-F radiator? I looked for an OEM one for months and ended up having one custom built.

I’m putting a layer of polish and wax on this truck. It’s got some scars but 25 years is a long time to be in service.

Are you using Groit’s products?
Yes. Yellow first and then the tan. I’ll make sure the pickup has a nice coat before it goes north

My Dobinsons drawers arrived and they were an easy install in the 70. Cowboy was a big help.

Still plenty of room behind the seats for stuff you need to be able to grab fast.

Please report back if it is worth the cost! Thinking about doing this to my troopy.

How would one measure it’s worth? I like the way they look. Not sure they do much else.
