hello everyone, when i purchased my 75 piggy the PO had apparently pulled out all of the seat belts. can anyone reccomend a place that i could buy replacements that are similar or better than OEM.

Tucker thanks for the info i ordered the long sash. i googled a bunch but i wanted someone with personal experience.

I did the front and back with 3point retractables that I bought off the internet. Although better than the separate shoulder and waist, they have an annoying habit of locking up! Gonna replace later down the road (bummer-$90 bucks each).

Same here. I put in four retractables and they are fine, but they do lock up at the slightest incline. Just fine in my opinion as I have been a fire fighter for some time and seen the mess left over after people just use lap belts.

Do you guys have photos of how you mounted the rear inertia reels for your retractable seat belts?

Thanks!

Thanks @SuperT, Not an approach I had considered. Did you encounter any issues mounting it that way? the angle of the belt looks like its going further rearwards than the factory upper pivot.. or is it just the angle of the photo?

No issues. I just had to drill a hole and I used a backing plate/washer on the nut side. I think I used the same backing plate on the rears that you need to use on the fronts. The fronts were actually a lot harder to put in for me.

I'll try to get another photo from a different angle. I used the threaded upper pivot. I had to cut the headliner to get to it.

Before mounting the seat belt on that seat bracket, please make sure there is good metal in the wheel well. That's a area prone to rust and wouldn't hold in an accident. I was planning to use that spot when I put in a rear seat. A hard place to see until you unbolt the bracket.

Here's another angle. It rolls freely and seems to work as it should.
I'd be curious to see other mounting points that have been used.

That's a very good point Scrapdaddy, especially since the whole point of installing the shoulder belts was to increase safety over the factory lap belts.

If safety over the factory lap belts is a goal you should consider removing the Inertia locking retractor mechanism from the seat back stops and use something designed to take the loads like this “L Bracket & Seat belt Anchor Kit”

L Bracket & Seat belt Anchor Kit

Like Scraps said confirm your inner fenders are not rusted out before relying on them as a suitable mounting point.

I used the seat back stops, because they seemed to be the strongest anchor points.
Do you guys have pics of where you mounted your retractors with or without L brackets? Can you please share?
